by paradisedreamer This is the former residence of Princess Diana after she and Prince Charles separated. It is still inhabited Princess Margaret, Prince Michael of Kent and his wife and the Duke of Gloucester. Kensington gardens are lovely and there is now a children's playground which is excellent. Palace gardens by lou31 The Palace and the Orangery restaurant were both closed when I arrived so I didn't get to go in. I had a walk around the gardens though but didn't stay long. They were nice enough and I should have went back to see more. Leave a Comment Directions: Next door to Hyde Park in Kensington Gardens.

Kensington Palace by filipdebont In fact Kensington Palace is a Royal Palace. It is still inhabited by some members of the Royal Family. (Princess Margaret, sister of Elisabeth, Prince Michael of Kent and his wife and the Duke of Gloucester). It is possible to visit a small part of the Palace, like the state apartments with the Kings Gallery and the Queens bedroom. On the lower floor you can see the Court Dress Collection, royal dresses and uniforms from 1750 till 1950. Leave a Comment Address: Kensington GardensDirections: Subway : Queensway

Africa by filipdebont The Albert Memorial is surrounded at each corner by a statue that shows a different continent. On this picture you see Africa. The other continents are Europe, America and Asia. For more pictures see my Albert Memorial Travelogue. Leave a Comment Address: Kensington Gardens

Albert by filipdebont The complete monument is 55 m high and made by Sir Gilbert Scott. In 1851 there was a World Exposition at this place, and Albert was a bit the man behind this exposition. So that is the reason why this statue is located over here. On the gold statue of Albert you can see him with a catalogue of this World Exposition on his knee; this statue was made by John Foley. Albert Memorial by filipdebont This magnificent monument for the beloved husband of Queen Victoria was completed in 1876. Albert was only 41 years old when he died of typhus. To me it looked a bit like a Thai temple. Maybe because I did one trip to Thailand to much, like this I start to see Thai temples everywhere . . . Leave a Comment Address: South carriage Drive

Royal Albert Hall by filipdebont This round Royal Albert Hall is built in 1871 by Francis Fowke and it is built in the same style as a Roman amphitheatre. There are about 8000 seats in this theatre. This is also the place of the annual Proms (promenade concerts). At the moment I visited London, Cirque de Soleil was performing in this Hall. The Embassy Houses in London are located mostly in one street. The houses are huge, palatial buildings, and most are beautiful. Take a stroll at night when the houses are lit up. Security guards flank both entrances, but this is mostly for cars, and you're free to walk through. Leave a Comment Address: Off Kensington High Street
