    Tower Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in London, if not the world. It was designed by the city architect, Horace Jones and constructed from 1886 to 1894, in a Victorian Gothic style. Its high level walkways attracted thieves and prostitutes at night, so in 1910 they were closed to the public. They have now been reopened, minus the thieves and prostitutes, as the Tower Bridge Experience.

  • I thought this was a good and interesting place to visit. When the weather is good the view must be fantastic. It was interesting to see the film in the beginnig and all together a very interesting place.

    The Tower Bridge, built in the 19th century, has become an enduring symbol of London. Though its architecture makes one believe it is much older, its mechanics are a fascinating view of hydraulic technology from the Victorian era. But the best part about the bridge is not either of these components -- it's the view you get when crossing the upper walkway. Designed when most of the traffic was expected to cross on foot, the engineers solved the problem of the drawbridge disrupting traffic by providing a higher alternate route for pedestrians. Today, for a fee, tourists can access the same walkway via fast elevators. Definitely take the time to go up and cross high above. Your ticket also gives you access to the drawbridge power plant, but I would only recommend this if you care about the engineering of how the drawbridge is raised. I found it interesting, but I could understand why others might want to skip this part.

    When you've admired the new architecture of the City Hall it's time to take a look at one of London's best known landmarks, the Tower Bridge. It doesn't disappoint at all. In fact it is still operational. It is sill suspended around 500 times a year and up to about ten times in summer.

    Tower Bridge acts as a doorway in the Thames River for big ships as a bridge for traffic between North and South London or down or up the river. If a ship is passing by, there will be an annoucement that the bridge is openning up, so traffic would stop and cars would be allowed to cross. It's an amazing scence! There is a little museum at the top of the tower. Admission is for BP4-6 (adult/student). I haven't been up there but I assume it's a nice view to see London from the top. There are also nearby restaurants that operate in the evenings. There is also a small market which closes at 6 pm. Buses to take there: 4, 43 Tube: Tower Hill tube station

    Tower bridge is a famous London Landmark. It was built and completed towards the end of the 19th century when it became obvious that London was growing too fast. It was built to accomodate traffic across the Thames.

    It is a guided tour which explains how the bridge was designed and constructed against considerable opposition, and takes you along the glass-covered overhead walkways which run between the towers.     I can call it masterly piece of civil engineering.It was built in 1894 and it still looks magnificent.There are 90-minute tours which include the view from 40m high walkways. For me definitely the most beautiful thing in London,and when I saw the Tower of London I felt like the time stopped...

    The Tower Bridge was built in 1894 to address a serious traffic issue when getting across the Thames. The engineering used to build this bridge is fabulous. While the drawbridge is now operated electronically, the old engines that drove the steam and hydraulic gears that used to open the bridge are still available for the public to see. Also amazing is the view of London from the elevated pedestrian crosswalks. These were built up high so that pedestrians were never hindered from crossing the Thames. It is a gorgeous bridge and also on of London's top tourist sites.
