Boat trip on the Thames
What does a man do when he tires of London? If you think the answer might be to take a cruise along the River Thames, think again. For all the times we've been to London, we had never been on the river by boat, so we decided once to take a cruise along the South Bank from Tate Modern to the London Eye.

What a sorry set-up. The staff at the pier were surly - I know it must get tiresome to be asked 1000 times a day 'is this our boat? when does it arrive?' - but maybe if there was more information provided and the boats kept to some semblance of a schedule then tourists would not pester so much. As it was our point-to-point boat was about 40 minutes late and our hop to the next pier along cost £2 with our travel card discount.

The seating onboard was a pathetic arrangement of plastic lawn furniture occupied by inattentive Spanish teenagers. The live commentary was an embarrassing affair given by a Cockney 18 year old with a BTEC in travel-n-tourism whose insight amounted to saying each bridge we passed under was 'very famous.'

What a shambolic exercise. We were ashamed to be on board and cannot recommend that anyone submit themselves to this hellish experience. Perhaps it's all a joke by what I take to be French owners??

Perhaps the Tate to Tate catamaran or circular cruises aboard the glassed-in boats are better - they are certainly more expensive.

Watch out for the cute animals...!
When walking pass those funny cute little doggies just out side the US embassy, we couldn't help stop and play with them. Before we realise, a whole hour had gone by...

Do exactly what we did... after all, it's holiday, what's the rush?

Beware The Sexy Ladies!
When walking through Soho, central London, you may be approached by very scantly clad ladies who want to take you somewhere (its not usually certain where you're going). They will proceed to take you to a strip club or a brothel, and once you're in its hard to get out without your wallet being considerably lighter than when you went in.

My best advice on this subject is that if you're approached by one of these 'ladies', just say that you're not interested and keep on walking. If you end up inside a club or brothel that you dont want to be in, let it be known that you're not going to be spending any money and try to get out.

If you enjoy the pleasures that these places offer, and you want to visit one, opt for the larger establishments rather than the small, backstreet ones. At least you wont get stripped off all your hard earned cash if you dont want to be. I suggest Stringfellows.

London Eye - it's more a technical achievement
While London Eye is one of the newest must to see attractions it does not offer that great view you may expect. London is packed with large buildings what block the view even to see things what are nearby. If you are not lucky enough fog or clouds come down below top of the weel, so you really think you fly as you can see nothing, but the top of clouds.
It is however great technically, but you can experience without taking the ride.

"Fly" only if weather is good and choose a time when there is no queue or just a short one (it is more likely to happen in the afternoon)

Take a window seat when you fly to and out of London and you will enjoy a real bird-eye view.

Piccadilly Circus
Yep - we've all been sucked in. It IS a fascinating place just because it could only be London and that's where you want to be :) But there is not a Londoner in sight, just tourists and school parties from all over the World. This is the place I can be sure to hear more Swedish spoken than anywhere else apart from the Swedish church when in London. I came here a lot during my study days as my local bar was nearby and my flat was along the Piccadilly Line but these days I try to avoid it and only cross it to get my daughter to Hamleys :)))

Spend your cash at the amazing Virgin Megastore!!!

Charing Cross Road is not far away with all its bookshops...

Madame Tussaud's - A Waxy Waste
Yes, the people are incredibly lifelike. Yes, it's fun to take pics like you are posing next to the "real deal", but knowing how incredible London is and everything else it has to offer, don't waste your time. It's also expensive for what you are doing.

Take lotsa pics and ham it up - but know that the photographs flash reflection will make it obvious this is not the "real deal" and is just wax. Also, the website allows you to book in advance at a discount (with limitations, of course like entrance after 5pm, etc). That helps ease the pain on the price.

Pickpockets
You can't recommend this too many times - be aware of pickpockets. The pickpockets are vhere the tourist are (who normally don't go on vacation with an empty wallet). Oxford street, Picadilly circus and the tube are places where you should be extra careful about your valuables.

The 43 hectare London Wetland Centre is the best urban site in Europe to watch wildlife, an international award winning visitor attraction and a Site of Special Scientific Interest ...

well, this is what they say on their homepage. if you're interesting in birds watching, then probably its a good place.

BUT for ENTRANCE paying Adult: £8.75 , is definitely to much.

    My result , I wouldn't recommend!
