Wheelchairs
We did not see a "wheelchair friendly" city. It may of been there, but in the tube stations we did not see elevators, just many sets of stairs. this means you must use taxis or means other than public transportation.

The taxis
We learned to stand on the sidewalks with our hands out to flag down the taxis-and only the black ones with the flag up that it was free-and-when getting out of the plays late at night-they have alot of illegal taxis waiting -so be very careful choosing one-after Les Miserables-we walked down a little and stood in front of a firestation-and was able to flag down one then back to our hotel-cause it's almost 11pm when the shows get out.

$225 Pounds an Hour
We wanted to pre-party at a strip joint before we hit the Liecester square clubs. We hit one around the corner from the McDonalds. Bad idea. It was dirty and they had no dancers yet they start charging once you walk in the door. We stayed there for about 10 min. We did not see any girls and we ended up paying $30 pounds to leave. They had the door locked with a solenoid.

Weather is a major driving force in London. One moment it is raining heavily, the other moment is is bright and sunny. Suddenly it's chilly and sometimes hot. Be ready to get drenched or carry umbrella always.

Do not feed the pelicans: St. James' Park
Well, you live and learn. The joy of great cities is that they are inexhaustable. There is always something new. I didn't know that there were pelicans in St James' Park until my eye was caught by a sign admonishing one not to feed the pelicans. I kept my eyes peeled and sure enough, pelicans. I spotted a couple, and very tame they are too.

London Streets
Well,,as a seasoned New Yorker all I can say is it usually takes alot to shock me when it comes to traffic and street congestion...
But London gets my prize for #1 street traffic nightmare...
First off,,you know they drive on the "left "side of the road (which takes some getting used to...even if your not the one doing the driving!)
So when your trying to cross the street do yourself a favor....look BOTH ways,,,TWICE!!
Because as soon as the coast looks clear in one direction...sure enough the cars come zooming out from around a corner in the other direction!
It felt very Un-pedestrian friendly there,,,I'm sorry to say-
Use the push-button sidewalk signal on the lamp-posts to signal that you want to cross...otherwise the traffic just keeps going..they're traffic lights are not on automatic timers like in the USA...
You have to ALERT the traffic that you're there.

*Oh,,,and one other tip: If you plan to take busses alot..do yourself a favor and stick your arm out to flag the bus down because a good majority of London buses our "request stop only" types....and they won't stop unless you wave at them to...I learned this lesson the hard way ...

Housing Estates
When in London, it is a good idea to stay away from the large housing estates at night time. There are often gangs of youths about, as well as drug addicts, who are often looking for trouble. As a tourist, you would be a prime target for these types of people, so its best to just steer clear.

Northern line
When in London, the best way to travel is with it's extensive subway. You can get anywhere in London and it's easy to understand the system. But I would advice you to try to avoid travelling by the Northern Line after dark. This is the black line on the subway map and it leads out of central London. This line has the highest crime rate of all the lines. There are almost no people there at night, so if something should happen to you, there will most likely not be anyone around to help!
The other lines are more crowded and, with some common sense, perfectly safe!

Soft Drugs
When wandering around London, be careful what you carry in your pockets, and what you buy! The most popular place for buying weed or hash is Camden town, though I've been offered weed in the middle of Piccadilly circus before... at the moment it is not illegal to carry up to 5grams of weed/hash, if it's intended for personal use. The government is considering reclassifying the drug (again) though, so i'll keep you updated.
