One of the first things you will notice upon entering Cafe Istanbul is the atmosphere. Its quite dimly lit inside and immediately sets a calm and relaxed mood (perfect for a date). The staff are always friendly and very efficient. They have a nice little bar at the entrance for you to order a drink or two if you need to wait for your reservation.
The food is always perfect and I have never had a meal from here that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The mixed grill is a favorite among most of the people I have taken to Cafe Istanbul. The restaurant also has a good selection of desserts available
Im not sure if they have changed it now but there used to be a step which was turned into a slope between the two sections of the restaurant. It was converted to a slope because people kept on tripping over it but you should still watch your step and be aware of this little fact because you could still end up making a fool of yourself falling all over the restaurant, especially since its quite dark inside.
Overall Cafe Istanbul is a quite, relaxed restaurant that has a place in the center of Manchester and is excellent for almost any occasion from adult birthday parties to simply eating out with friends. After your meal you could either go and relax at the bar or continue your night out in the town as a result of its fine location.
Favorite Dish: A mixed grill typically brings along a selection of different types of lamb meat such as cutlets and fillets as well as some chicken all prepared with a great selection of herbs and spices. I also recommend the swordfish which comes skewered along with onions and peppers which adds a distinctive taste.
Very good food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service. The food is perhaps the best I've had in Manchester and definitely good value. It will be about £25 per person for including full meal of 3 courses and wine. As I recall the wine selection was good as well!
