I've aready told you about my...
I've aready told you about my favourite restaurant but you can eat out all over the region.
You can choose from Chinese (China Town Manchester V.G.), Indian, Thia, Greek, Japanese, Italian, American to name but a few. If you want to try typically english food go to a fish and chip shop, bakery or have a cream tea, you can't beat a scrummy scone with heaps of freshly whipped creamed and mounds of strawberry jam.........devine!
At most 'good' restaurants I'd advise you to book a table in advance, you'd be suprised at how many of us northern ladies just 'don't DO cooking!'
Favorite Dish: It all depends on your tastebuds not mine, but at most of the eating places if they haven't got a menu outside just pop in and ask to have a look through one, if you dont fancy anything move on to your next port of call!
Le Frog: Le Frog
The atmosphere in here is fantastic, and the decor is something special too....for me its a feeling of coming off the busy, smoke filled streets into another world.
There are special offers on during the week, where you can get 2 courses for a tenner, weekends can be a little pricey if your on a budget but well worth it.
Favorite Dish: Fillet steak served with a peppercorn, stilton sauce with roasted apples and sauted potatoes....absolutley devine, many people go here to eat the muscles, not my cup of tea though....bon appetit!
If you are a vegetarian,...
If you are a vegetarian, there is a fantastic cafe on Oldham street (Just off Picadilly central Manchester) called 'Pops cafe, they do the best veggie allday breakfast, a bizarre little place with a fetish for the 50's...
8th Day..another good veggie place, but you can't smoke :( on Oxford road, near the BBC.
This is a pic of my oldest...
This is a pic of my oldest daughter, shamefully I admit she is in McDonalds..
yes, yes, yes.. there is one everywhere, however there is a nice little Italian restaurant near by ;-)
ok, if you like more 'arty' food....'Rhodes' Restaurant (gary), near Trafford (hmm ok I mentioned football) ground. The food is devine..expensive, kind of miniscule, but pretty, beautifully presented and prepared...
The decor is simple, some may say cold, almost industrial, but its a hip joint if you like that kinda thang.
Est Est Est in Didsbury, is a more upmarket Pizza place, I really love the food in here and Didsbury is buzzing at night, without being overtly party party, like town.
Pizza Express, Fog Lane Didsbury, you need to get a bus up Palatine road and get of at the cross roads at fog lane.
another nice pizza place, nice decor with some big expressionistic'y paintings produced by a local artist.
Corner House: Nice and Arty, quiet, small cafe with different food, some vegetarian, nice to have a coffee if you are looking in the galleries, 3 floors of differing exhibitions, also has a indi cinema attached and a bar downstairs,
to be honest I find it a bit boring in her, but it has a definate appeal for a lot of people.
Lovely mexican (I think) style food, in Didsbury and dotted around greater manchester..
CHINA TOWN - Central Manchester
just go here to sample the best Manchester has to offer of Chinese cuisine, and shops too, most of the fast food take aways, I think, are rubbish>
I am obsessed by Saajan in Fallowfield's.. vegetarian Korma
I have to say I often get a...
I have to say I often get a little urge for some Ackee and saltfish, as it takes a hundred years to prepare (ok it doesn't),
...I will hotfoot it (if thats possible in a car) to Moss side to 'Douggies take away, on Moss Lane west, or go to Chicken Run' On Claremont road (Whalley Range End) ..
the food is fab, chicken dinner £5, utterly basic, no frills, but de-gorgeous :)ALSO:
Alvino's - Great Western Street - Moss side
Salmon cabs and take away - Hulme
Now I have to say..and I find it amusing..that in one or two of these take away's I have come across the most funny attitudes...
one shop imparticular, used to make me laugh, because I would go in and the guy would look at me with distain...
..like, yeah and what in hell do you want, don't you know I have more important things to do than serve YOU!!!
Don't take it personally though, he was the same with everyone..lol
Ackee and saltfish or cabbage
Rice/peas/fried or boiled chicken and gravy
Does the best Kebabs and Tandoori Chicken
Favorite Dish: chicken kebabs. These succulent pieces of chicken coated in yoghurt, mango and chilli sauce wrapped in naan bread is the most filling thing when you're starving
For those who like Chinese,...
For those who like Chinese, try Chinatown where you'll find many many restaurants. Sunday is the big day. From 11.45 am, almost precisely, to midnight the streets are packed. The Grosvenor casino on George Street overflows and hidden upstairs rooms are suddenly opened up to take the overspill. Strangely enough, the cooking on Sunday is usually slightly better than during the rest of the week.
Rusholme is a must for those...
Rusholme is a must for those Indian food lovers. Rusholme is known locally as the curry mile although it's only literally half a mile long. It is claimed that more than 10,000 people eat there each week. The social difference with Chinatown is that very few visitors are Indian. What does distinguish Rusholme though, is that the cooking is essentially Punjabi, whereas nearly every other Indian restaurant in the UK tends to be Bengali owned. There are more than 50 restaurants which are constantly in a state of change, all competing against one another. They are all very similar, but at least they're cheap!
There are loads of great...
There are loads of great restaurants in Manchester. Deansgate has a whole row of them and our favourite is still Moon Under Water. Apparently it used to be a cinema and now its the largest pub in Europe. The prices are good and its got a good ambience. Chinatown is another great place for Chinese food. Many restaurants serve Dim Sum in the day. Wong Chu has got the coolest roast duck. The 2 Chinese bakeries also sell excellent confectionary and Baos. Our favourite restaurant in Rushholme Tandoori Kitchen. A good spread at a comfortable price. The service is fabulous too. Oasis in Rushholme, I think, has got great kebabs too. Another place I go after the gym with Eric is University V-Grill at the Precint Centre. HUGE helpings.
Wong Chu : The food's great and it has sufficient seating upstairs to warrant a dinner party. Don't make too much noise though. Waiters are on the 'strict' side :)
Tandoori Kitchen : Cosy and service is excellent
University Grill : You can sit there as long as you want and just hang around watching people
Favorite Dish: Wong Chu : 3 Roasted Meats with Rice, Wong Chu special fried noodles (If you are really hungry)
Tandoori Kitchen : Mutton Curry, Mango Lassi
University V-Grill : Massive kebabs
COSTA COFFEE: COSTA COFFEE, PICCADILLY
Costa Coffee is the fastest growing coffeeshop and the second largest chain in the world.....look out Starbucks here we come.
Favorite Dish: Black forest hot chocolate with whipped cream and cherry sauce.
STARBUCKS: STARBUCKS, ST ANNE'S SQUARE
It is always helpful to know where all the Starbucks in a city are located. How else can you go on a coffee crawl.
Favorite Dish: VENTI LATTE
STARBUCKS: STARBUCKS, DEANSGATE
Starbucks is a world renowned name and very worthy of it's place as the number one coffee shop in the world.
Favorite Dish: VENTI LATTE
COSTA COFFEE: Costa, Market street.
Costa is the fastest growing coffeeshop chain in the UK
Favorite Dish: Black forest hot chocolate and almond and cherry muffin.
Sapporo Tappanyaki: Fresh Fish!!!
A great night out. Auidience participation and all. Lovely food and surroundings.
Favorite Dish: Have one of the banquets and you can't go wrong. MmmmmmmmRelated to:
