Tampopo is the place I always bring visitors to for a quick, cheap, generally great meal as either a break from shopping or pre gig/theatre. It has an extensive menu containing dishes from all over Asia. Service is always super-fast, food is fresh, delicious and plentiful, and the £6.95 Express Menu (availably til 7 weekdays - not sure about weekends) is a total bargain for a starter and main.
Favorite Dish: I just love the veggie Gyoza and Chicken Ramen - a huge bowl with melt in the mouth chicken. The Indonesian prawn crackers are fab too.
I live in Fes, Morocco - so going here is a special fix for this man, an asian food junkie. Everything here is great. That's all I will say for now - it is one of your best eating out options in Manchester; it's certainly mine.
Favorite Dish: Tempura...
Tampopo is in a basement on the right-hand side of Albert Square. They do a set lunch at a special price. The food is a great selection of healthy noodle-based and other dishes from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam all cooked before your very eyes in the open kitchen.
The staff are attentive and polite and the food is very tasty with an excellent vegetarian selection.
Trendy local art adorns the walls. It's a good atmosphere.

Favorite Dish: Yasai Yaki Udon...thick noodles with a selection of stir-fry vegetables such as mange-tout with a heavenly blend of spices, garlic and ginger.
Tampopo - An absolutely fab South East Asian restaurant. Minimalist style with local art and bench style tables.
The Soup dishes are MASSIVE! When my boyfriend & I go we generally share a starter and then share a soup, and there is plenty for dinner! I don't eat much but he makes up for that! This meal with 2 drinks generally costs about £15 - nice and cheap!
Favorite Dish: Their Thai Honey back ribs are a great starter and I always follow it with their Chicken Noodle Soup dish which is absolutley huge with 6inch chargrilled chicken strips, mixed stir fried veg and loads of noodles in a typical asian soup stock - yum!
