On a sunny day it is a pleasant walk along the River Mersey from Didsbury village to Chorlton. It takes about 2 hours and is not too busy, with good footpaths and is well signposted. If you get tired there are plenty of places to stop along the way.
From Didsbury village at Simon's bridge turn right along the Trans Pennine route and follow the signs along the river to West Didsbury and Chorlton. You will pass through Northenden, then West Didsbury, then Chorlton Water Park.
When you get to Chorlton Ees nature park on the right take this path then turn left and follow the road into Beech Road. Here you will find Chorlton Green with a great choice of bars, cafes and restaurants to reward you for your efforts.
You can take a taxi at Toto cars which is at the end of Beech Rd, or walk back along Barlow Moor Road to West Didsbury - for more bars and restaurants. Address: Simon's Bridge, Didsbury village.Directions: South on A34, left to Didsbury then left into Dene Road. Walk past the allotments and you will come to the River. Follow signs for Trans Pennine route.
