Taking a taxi (i.e. black cab – there’s many kinds of taxis in Manchester, make sure there’s a licence plate) instead of walking alone is recommended if you’re out late since the streets are not too safe. This obviously goes to any large city.

    Let me tell you,...

Let me tell you, EVERYONE...rich, poor and inbetween carries that annoying little item, the mobile phone...prepare to be irritated and ready to kill by the time you have finished with England, (unless your country is equally bad)...

They get no more brash, crass and tacky than the UK for the most hideous use of tinny tunes and annoying themes to serve the purpose of a ring tone...name that tune in...well who cares, but I loathe the manipulation of a practical item into a show piece..

Do I have one, ok yeah I do...but I dont wear it like a pair of earrings... (Im just so perfect hahaha)
Nor do I attempt to impress by downloading the latest number 1 hit in the charts...why> Because I think it sounds CRAP! OOh aren't I a misery guts :-)

Anyway, everyone has one, even the dog...so prepare for radiation overload on the train, bus or anywhere ...

DRUGS: Ok none of us are...

DRUGS: Ok none of us are naive, many students will buy drugs, its life, so if you do be bloody sensible... do not go into Moss side, or other area's area's where people suggest you might be able to buy illegal drugs..including many clubs/pubs, all bright eyed and bushy tailed expecting to not get ripped off and potentially abused, or at risk of killing yourself on a drug described as an 'E', amphetamine ..whatever... Drugs (sorry to sound patronising) are really bad news, people DO DIE, people DO GET exploited, People DO risk getting well and truelly ripped off and potentially robbed of everything. For kicks, stick to alcohol for altering perception if you must, (and Im not condoning any drug..hey my drug is tobacco and coffee..lots of, but Im not promoting those either..and English coffee is rubbish!) with alcohol, I guess, at least you can guarentee it is a bit less likely to kill you(not safe though of course cos its actually more damaging than a lot of 'soft' drugs.)..but you know where its 'coming from' and its a more educated risk. Remember Cannibis is illegal in the UK, as well as other non prescriptive drugs. The other risk...ARREST.

The metrolink now charge you £20 on the spot if you're caught without a ticket so to avoid this completely just buy a metromax ticket which allows you to travel anywhere on the system at anytime and as many jouneys as you wish on that day

When visiting Old Trafford be careful not to stand too close to the pitch in case the sprinklers start doing their job. You and your camera equipment will get wet :-S
