    Lots to do!: Nightlife

    by jonah1 Written Aug 18, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Manchester has a lot on offer at night whatever you might want to. There are many nightclubs (mostly of a good standard), bars and pubs, theatres and restaurants on offer. I used to frequent Canal Street quite a bit in my time there partly because it is generally 90% gay bars and clubs but also because there a lot of options, is very mixed (gay/straight ratio) and you can literally walk in from one place to the next next door. There are also a few nice places towards the Universit's side and in the center of the city.

Dress Code: Some places are fussy about sneakers and people generally make an effort to look good

Spirit Bar on Canal Street - upmarket crowd Via Fossa - beatiful boys, great vibe and decor Open air Bars in the city centre Xmas market on Alber Square - stunning experience

    The Gay village: Gay Manchester

    by Nit_4 Written Sep 10, 2004

Manchester has a large, lively and energetic Gay and Lesbian community, and their needs are catered for in an area which has come to be known as the Gay Village in Manchester. In recent years it has brought a new dynamism and vitality to a hitherto rather rundown area of the city, and its pavement cafés and bars have helped create in summertime a cosmopolitan and continental ambience, which attracts many people to its nightlife - Gay, Lesbian and Heteros!
Drinks are very cheap ( expecially if you've just come from London!) and the atmosphere and music in the bars are great. Despite being hetero, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and me and gfs managed to 'pull' some straight guys here ;o)

Tiger Tiger, Hard Rock: Printworks, opposite The triangle Galleries

    by Nit_4 Updated Aug 15, 2004

As the title describes it, Printworks used to be where all the major newpaper printing was concentrated. With its unique high ceilings used for its previous business, the building now houses nightclubs like Hard Rock Cafe and Tiger Tiger. The clubs are very airy and spacious and its so refreshing to dance in a place where you're not sweating buckets as soon as the music tempo heats up. Tiger tiger plays mostly great R&B and Hard rock well, Rock! (they also have a live band). Great atmosphere but drinks a bit pricey compared to 'Gay Village' or Deansgate.
