    Oldham Nightlife

I went to see a wonderful production, Close the Coalhouse Door, at the Oldham Coliseum in July 2014. You can read my forthcoming review here. The theatre closed in the 1930s when it became a cinema and then in 1938 it was reopened and...

  • Ye Olde Man & Scythe

    Bolton Nightlife

"Oi, mate! ...Yeah you--the tall bloke! Watch yer head on that beam there, yeah?" Three guys are sitting at the bar, the smallest one is looking at me and my friend as we walk into the Olde Man & Sythe. He's right, the ceiling is really low in this pub and I probably would have given my skull a good crack without the warning. "Thanks," I give a nod...
