Hampshire County Cricket Club was established in 1863 and played their first first-class match in 1864, Hampshire first competed in the County Championship in 1895 the sixth year in which the Championship was held, they have won it twice in 1961 and 1973. The club have been playing their matches at the Rose Bowl since 2001 after they left the County Ground, Southampton, which had been their home since 1885.
The Romsey Rapids which are owned by Test Valley Borough Council is the ideal sports venue to visit. It has a wonderful 25 metre swimming pool with water spouts & slides to thrill you. There’s also a children’s pool & Jacuzzi, but the water in the pool feels really chilly after being in here. There’s also a gym upstairs, café & sports halls. Swimming prices are varied with children’s swim school, swimming courses to suit all, aqua-aerobics, life saving courses, plus many more things to enjoy.

Equipment: There’s a crèche available which is open Monday - Friday 10.00am - 11.55am. Charges for Members are £1.55 per hour; Non-members are £1.65 per hour. The crèche is accessible for children aged 2 months to 8 years. Babies should have had their first injections before using the crèche. There’s also a band system in operation for peace of mind. When you leave your children, you will each get a matching numbered band. On your return your child will only be released to the person wearing that band. You must remain on the premises whilst children are using the crèche services. You will be asked to fill out a register to give any related information about your child e.g. allergies & immunisations etc.
