Just outside Hertford in the village of Stapleford is the Woodhall Arms pub, including Papillon restaurant. Although it's in a village pub it's a restaurant which would be successful as a stand-alone even in a fashionable area of London.
The service is first class, the menu is wide-ranging, the dishes are superb, the wine list is excellent.
Favorite Dish: All the dishes are excellent but the highlights are honey roast half duck with orange & Grand Marnier sauce; Saddle of venison with cinnamon & black cherry sauce.
Hertford is renowned for its large number of restaurants and pubs, and the number continues to grow, drawing in trade from well outside the immediate locality. Listed on the website below are the many places you can eat. Excluded are pubs that sell food as a sideline and bakeries that sell rolls and sandwiches.
