Mercery Lane is a tiny and narrow pedestrianised street leading from busy High Street to Christchurch Gate, the main gateway to the Cathedral Precinct. It is very atmospheric here, but with a couple of busloads of tourists loosed upon the lane, things could become quite congested here!
When I got through the Dane John Garden I got to the bus station. From here you can go left and walk through the -what looked a bit new- shopping centre of Whitefriars. A very well done set of streets lined with shops. Mainly same old same old style shops as you can find anywhere else on any UK High Street.
Still following the signs for the cathedral and looking up to see if I can still see the top of the cathedral I made my way through Mercery Lane. A very narrow street that will lead you to Burgate and Sun St. Here you will find the entrance to the cathedral and also the Tourist Information Centre. In the TIC you can find some detailed guide books of the cathedral that can also provide you with a walk of the town once you have finished looking at the cathedral.
