Westgate Garden and the River Stour

In Summer, this is a wonderful retreat from the bustling streets with trees and shrubs providing shelter from the sun. You can venture on a punting tour on the river Stour. Some fish under the water's surface and quite many mosquitoes above it :-)

    Westgate Gardens

I passed by the Westgate Gardens yesterday on a mad dash into town in my lunch hour!

You just know that summer is coming when kids are splashing around in the river, Flowers are in full bloom, people are sitting on the benches and groups laying on the grass.........ah bliss!

Many of my summer lunch hours are spent here in the Westgate Gardens, feet in river, bum on lawn, book in hand, sarnie in mouth!

Very clean and well maintained - if visiting in spring or summer - def stop along here.

    Garden of the West gate

    Westgate garden

Before I come to Canterbury , Itold Ali that I wanna visit thi sgarden and that garden, but she said its better if we dont go too far coz my schedule is tight . So we went to the West Gate Garden after strolling in the middle of the town , exploring the World Herirtage Sites, had typical English lunch.

And my God , you will not believe what a beautiful garden this place is. I was totally mesmerised , the flowers , the colours and of course the setting. ( we scared away a number of couples with our VT picture snapping mania LoL , guess they are a little camera shy , hey after all didnt they know they get to be seen by almost 500,000 VT maniac around the world ? )

let me tell ya something, if you miss this place, you have not come to Canterbury !

Canterbury is very well looked after by the local council and this flowerbed is one example of the care that is taken in this city.
