    Pencester Park, right in the middle of Dover, on a nice day is really good, but busy. There are skateboarders and also a bandstand, though I have never seen any bands! It is the recreation space neaxt to the town centre

    • Dover is pretty much the same as the rest of the UK in respect of Cutural differences. Dover has a problem at the moment with a lot of illigal immigrants and has been bogged down with housing thousands of Immigrants, so the people may be a little wary of People form Eastern europe.

    While at Dover Castle you may run into men like the one pictured here. He was stationed at Dover Castle during the war, said he used to man the guns like the one in the picture. I don't think he had been back since the war, so it was interesting to see his reaction.

    Kent can be the hottest place in the country during the summer with an abundance of sunshine but it can also be the wettest in the autumn and the coldest and snowiest in the winter.

    DOVER MUSEUM is a history museum situated in the town centre of Dover. Being one of England's oldest museums, the collection contains a great number of objects reflecting the changing fashions in museum collecting.
    It contains, as well as objects of local importance, a range of unusual items reflecting the Victorian love for what was considered unusual or 'exotic'. It is also home to the 'Dover Bronze Age Boat', the world's oldest known seagoing boat and a fascinating archaeological discovery.

    Did you know that the Roman Emperor Caligula (in 90 AD) commanded a Lighthouse to be built at Dover, England?

    And thanks to him - today, it is the oldest Lighthouse still in existence in England and it can be found in the compounds of Dover Castle.

    Here's another interesting fact (if you don't already know): Lighthouse lights have the power of the equivalent of 20 million candles... lit by high pressure xenon lamps!! (Whilst researching on Dover, I came upon this hot tip in my trusty old Encyclopedia).
