The Lighthouse is a public house that does fairly standard food. The quality is OK but it has a good atmosphere in the place itself. The food is mostly steak, chicken curry etc. The desserts are good though.
On the Old Dover road between Dover and Folkestone and ideally situated.
Favorite Dish: When I last went I had the steak and it was good
This pub is in the harbour at Folkestone and offers an excellent menu. Their fresh fish is their speciality.
Favorite Dish: My husband and I enjoyed an excellent seafood platter which was beautifully served and although not cheap was excellent value for money.
Before i start, this is not a seafood restaurant, but a seafood stall, and its far better and cheeper than a restaurant. This place has been here all my life and you will not taste better crabs or cockles anywhere in England. It is very poplar in the summer, you can buy a plate of prawns or cockles and sit with a pint of beer at the pub oppersitt WHAT COULD BE BETTER
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish has to be there crabs
This restaurant has been open in Folkestone for as long as i can remember, they are actually freinds of my parents and as it was my fathers birthday a few weeks ago we decided to take him for a meal here. This is the first time we have eaten here for years and although the decore is like going back in time, the food is exeptional. I don't think its been decorated since my last visit in the 70s coz its still got flock wallpaper on the walls LOL, but so long as the food is good who cares
Favorite Dish: We actually hired the whole restaurant out for 1 night because there was a big party of us and the menu was pre arranged before hand. The owner prepared a whole roast pig for us with all the trimmings, superb stuff and not to be missed
Not really a bar although there is a small seating area at one end. The main business is an excellent all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet and it is worth a mention just for that. No "all boiled rice and hunt the crispy duck" here, as attentive staff keep the varied and plentiful dishes well stocked. It's not cheap and you probably have to ask yourself if you are able to eat £13 worth of Chinese food but it is cheaper midweek and lunchtimes and is well worth a visit if you're hungry.
This is my favourite take away, i have been using this place since it first opend and i have always had a good meal.
Favorite Dish: Try the mixed grill kebab its got a fillet of lamb, chicken breast, shish kofte, and doner in a pitta bread with lots of salad, it is huge.
Giovanni's italian restaurant has always been my favourite place to eat, it is also very popular so you have to book early in advance. There menu is huge so its difficult to make your mind up what to eat. the staff are always welcoming and friendly and are italian born, i say this coz how many italian reataurants have you been in where the waiters are english, im not being funny but its just not the same is it. So it defintately has got an italian feel.
Favorite Dish: My favourites at Giovanni's are fried whitebait, which are tiny little fish deep fried in seasoned flour untill they are crispy. These you eat whole including the head and tails Mmmmmmm Loooovely. Also a mixed seafood platter which is squid, lemon sole, king prawns, skate and sea bass, wow is this tasty or what. Plus there steak is fab and its cooked in garlic and pernod. (ENJOY).
The Tavernetta is anouther italian restaurant, but this ones a bit different to me, i have to mention this place because my dear old mum, who is italian was chef there for 25 years so if i don't put a good word in she will smasha me faca ina Ha Ha Ha. If you get the chance please go there coz my mum says so.
Favorite Dish: They cook fantastic fresh pasta and the veil is to die for. Oh and ask for orvietto, its a fantastic white wine like you have never tasted before.(enjoy)
The east cliff pavillion is a fantastic place to eat your sunday roast because of the panoramic views over the channel to france. This restaurant also does great international nights such as turkish nights, greek nights, italian nights and so on. If your ever in Folkestone and one of these nights is on DO NOT MISS IT .
Favorite Dish: The east cliff pavillion serves the best sunday roast in the world
A great site awaits you when you enter this restaurant, there are hundreds of wine bottles covering the ceiling, all i could think of was if 1 of those strings broke it could fall down and knock you out hahahahahahahaha
Up till a couple of years ago this was a dissused bank, but now its been turned into a chinese all you can eat restaurant. Good value for money, but thats as far as it goes in my opinion, all these sort of buffet restaurants seem to be the same, and they are popping up all over the country. In my view these are great places to go if all you want is stuff your self silly, but as for the culenary side of things, well forgett it
This small Cafe has seats for about 30 people inside and 30 outside. During good weather, the best place to be is definitely outside. Sitting at basic wooden tables on benches, you can get a full english breakfast and a superb view across the English Channel to France, all for the price of 3 english Pounds.
Favorite Dish: All the food is basic cafe style food that is all freshly prepared. Home made coffee and walnut cake with a mug of milky coffee is my favorite.
The Oak Tree Farm Tea Rooms, Stowting, Kent.
Reasonable prices, a nice atmosphere, outside space and animals. I had a weekend job there years ago so can vouch for the food from an insiders viewpoint!
Favorite Dish: Toasted sandwiches, Sunday lunches and cream teas.
My friend and I came here recently for her birthday and I must say for a small town this restaurant was excellent.
The service was very good with the waiter and waitress eager to help and they both helped us with our choices as the menu is quite extensive. They also helped with the choice of the wine and actually told us the house one was the best! They were right about the wine and the food!
Portions are large so be careful should you decide to have a starter as you may not have room for dessert!
It is quite expensive but as a special treat it is certainly worth it!
Favorite Dish: %S$For a starter I had the salmon risotto and it was so creamy and so well made. The only problem was there was so much that I had to leave some of it to make room for the main course. For the main course I had the veal in cream and mushroom sauce. Delicious!!!!
Tracie and I shared a dessert and we toook the Italian cake filled with strawberries and crea. Yummy!
Not a restaurnat but seafood stall on the Stade overlooking the harbour.
All kinds of seafood to take home and eat at the thoughtfully provided benches.
Favorite Dish: Prawns and cockles... they do jellied eels as well if you really want them.
