Fish and Chips: Some good old fashioned fish and chips!

by Jenniflower

It being Easter Sunday, most restaurants were closed everywhere, so we had to find something that was open! And find it we did! Great food, cheery faces (who likes to work on Easter Sunday???), well worth it. It is nothing special decor-wise, although they have gone for the harbour theme. The waitrons are dressed as sailors, which we thought was a nice touch. We had hake and chips, with mushy peas. I am not much of a mushy pea fan to be honest, but the fish was crisp and light, and the fries not oily and homemade. We were sated and content :)

The Carpenters Arms: All Round Excellence

by ChrisnJan

This place is a real gem, the bar is a very comfortable and relaxed place to sit and have a drink while you mull over the impressive menu. The restaurant is very stylish and the service is impeccable. The food is absolutely wonderful, everything is home-cooked to order and the prices are very reasonable. There are patio areas to the front and rear and a large lawn garden for those warm summer nights. There is no pool table, jukebox, dartboard or fruit machine. The clientele are mainly over 30's although this would be a great experience for people of any age. We have been here on numerous occasions over the last few years and have never been disappointed once. The pub/restaurant has undergone a lot of building work recently as well as a very tasteful interior refurbishment which has only increased my already very high regard for this place.

The Wheatsheaf: So much choice on the menu

by ChrisnJan

The Wheatsheaf is a beautiful olde world pub, part of which was once a hunting lodge owned by King Henry V. The menu here is extensive and the food is very good. There is a nice inviting garden for the warmer days and the staff are very friendly and efficient. My only warning; it is not cheap but you get what you pay for and all eight of our party left happy. In summery: I was very impressed and I will certainly be going back again. I can recommend the smoked haddock

Fox And Hounds: Very Good Food

by ChrisnJan

This is a lovely country pub with a very nice atmosphere, there is a no-smoking restaurant area at the rear. The menu is varied with a suuicient choice of mouth-watering dishes and the food certainly lives upto expectations. There are some excellent real ales on sale here!Having had your fill of fine food and ale you may decide to burn off some calories by taking a stroll through the surrounding woodland known as Toys Hill and owned by the National Trust.

Ye Maydes Restaurant: Comes highly recommended!

by Jenniflower

This is one of those strange tips really as I cannot give a personal opinion on this restaurant. When we stayed at Shirkoak Farm, the B&B owner highly recommended this place to us! He ave it a glowing report! Needless to say, we were quite excited to get this 'insider tip' and sped off to it! It is located in Biddenden, on the short High Street, about a 15 minute drive from Woodchurch, where we were staying. But is was closed :(So we ended up going somewhere else.So I cannot say what our opinion of this place is as we never got to eat there, but we know that when we are next in the area, we definately WILL go there. Thought I'd let you into this insider tip too ;)

Headcorn Tea Room: Fabulous tea and scones!

by Jenniflower

I have to say this is one of the best afternoon teas we have ever had.We had hoped to have tea in a highly recommended tea room in Biddenden, but it was closed, so we drove on and ended up in Headcorn! We noticed this little tea room was open, so we gladly ventured inside, eager for a country tea! We were NOT disappointed! I cannot remember the name off-hand but as you enter the village (from the Biddenden/station side) and go down the High Street, it is on your left. The tea-room itself is gorgeous. With something happening in every nook and cranny, there are homemade wooden signs, and lots of art and crafty goodies to be seen (and bought!).The tea was lovely and the scones SUPERB! We had clotted cream and strawberry jam with ours and it was fresh and tasty. It was crammed but enjoyable. Well worth the squash!

Giorgio's: MMMMMMM

by kentishgirl

Giorgio's is located in Margate, Its an excellent restaurant with a really chic trendy feel to the place. Its just by the Clocktower in the basement of a Victorian style property. Food is always superb!!!The staff are fantastic, My favourite meal here would include Mozzarella....but they offer loads of different meals.

Bambou: Lovely surroundings and excellent food

by nhcram

Came here after a couple of friends at work said how good it was and they were right!! The service was excellent and the food was of top quality The restaurant is below ground level in what can only be described as cave like. The background music reflected the place and the waitress was in traditional dress. I had a mixed started of beef in vine leaves, skewered prawn, sesame toast and vegetable spring rolls which were wrapped in rice paper. For the main course the chicken and vegetable mild green curry was lovely. This was followed by a mouth cooling lime sorbet.

Dunkerleys: Fresh Seafood

by nhcram

This restaurant is beautifully furnished and the service is very good. It doesn't come cheap and we only go on very special occasions. The seaood is of a very high standard and the portions good. The wine is very expensive as are the desserts. The fresh Sea Bass is very nice

Goodwins: Fill yourself at breakfast!

by nhcram

At the end of Deal pier is the Goodwins restaurant and in my opinion they do the best breakfast in Kent! It is cooked to order and for under £4 you get the works. Tea , toast, egg, bacon, sausage, hash brown , mushrooms, tomatoes. (You can order extra too) It is really lovely. The only drawback is that you have to wait a long time for it. There is always a queue. We went a couple of weeks ago and had to wait over an hour. It is certainly worth the wait though!! The full English Breakfast.
