The Kings Arms: Morecambes Major Nightspot

by Maxus

About the busiest weekend drinking den in Morecambe is the Kings a large pub-cum-nightclub on the Central Promenade, which at weekends is buzzing well into the early hours. At night it’s popular with a mixed age (18 to 30s) sort of crowd who are often rowdy but usually good natured. There is good music from the resident DJ and professional door staff to keep any trouble to a minimum. I like the place but to be on the safe side try not to stare at anyone for too long after midnight and keep an eye on your drink. The Kings serves food in the daytime and has cheap drinks offers through the week, there’s big screen football, the works. You can’t knock it really. The door staff can be quite strict here, no trainers, tracky bottoms (defo) or even traditional chav.

The Joiners Arms: Traditional Busy Pub

by Maxus

A lively traditional pub in the town centre which gets busy with locals throughout the day and is usually packed and noisy by 9pm, particularly at weekends. The Joiners has live music and is popular pre-nightclub watering hole. The pub is on Queen Street, which runs off the Central Promenade, much of Morecambe's nightspots are around here.

The Eric Bartholomew: Standard Weatherspoon Fare

by Maxus

Morecambe now has a Weatherspoon, which is pretty much like every other Weatherspoon in the UK only it’s in Morecambe and the staff appear not to like customers. You can have something reasonable to eat with your cheap beer in the day (when this place is busiest) and a few more cheap beers in the evening before heading off to seek a more livelier venue (which if you have any sense will be in Lancaster). If you are from overseas and don't know the JD Weatherspoon pub chain, have a look at their website, you will probably like this place, it's safe and relatively cheap.

Coast: Smaller Bar/Nightclub

by Maxus

This bar nightclub opens late and is busy at weekends, particularly popular with groups of young men who it is probably better not to cross. Colin and the door staff do their best to keep this place one of the safer places to drink in down town Morecambe and it is relatively well-run. There is a lounge bar and a noisier clubby side, I drink here so it can't be too bad. Smart Casual

The Chieftain: Simply a good well run pub

by Maxus

I like the Chieftain, which incidentally is much bigger inside that it looks from the outside. It’s friendly enough, very well run, serves good beer and is as good as anywhere in central Morecambe for a few drinks with friends. It also has its own website so you can check it out for yourself. No dress code, just be reasonable.
