Oswaldtwistle Transportation

  • Classic Cars

The day we were there there was a classic car exhibition. The cars were all of the "limousine" type, and mostly american. My favourite was this Packard Super Eight, a beautifully maintained classic from the 1930's. I loved the white-wall wheels and the wheel badges.

  • Classic Cars (Detail)

Just a detail of the wheel badge of the Packard Super Eight. This was like an early MPV - it had an extra row of seats that folded away out of sight when not in use, and unlike many cars of this early type, these extra seats face the right way, intead of rearwards.

Oswaldtwistle Shopping

  • Household Crafts

There was a lot of household "decorative items" here too - such as painted vases and candle lamps. Most were very nice - we bought some and saw some that we had already bought elsewhere for more money! :-( All sorts of "decorative" items for the home.

  • Yankee Candles

Yankee is our favourire candle maker and they make a huge range of scented candles. Oswaldtwistle sold more of these than we've ever seen before - surely the whole ranhe was here. Candles - and lots of them!

  • Crafts Galore

Inside the mill complex was a huge art & craft shop. It sold everything that you could want including all kinds of paints (waters, oils, "craft"), decoupage, the stuff where you poke holes in paper (Susan does this - dunno what it's called), stampers, pens... you name it it was here.
