Embassy Theatre: You thought you had left 1978

by sourbugger Updated Sep 23, 2004

What is he doing to that green bird ?

You though that 1978 was a long time ago - but No!, any act that last had a decent non-ironic television appearance since 1978 is here for your delectation on stage.

You just couln't make this stuff up : the summer season at the Embassy Theatre last year (2003) included the following performers still pathetically scatching a living out of people who think Lisa Riley is cool :

Showaddywaddy (under the moon of rain)

Jimmy Cricket and Bernie Clifton (the Funny Guys - their words not mine)

    Chas'n'Dave (just loopy now)

    Keith Harris and Orville.

    I despair

Various - including Rhino's: Enjoy the wildlife

A night out (on in) at Rhino's

Clubs filled with slappers and men in silly colour shirts and white socks.

You can usually get to see a good fight.

One of the worst is Rhino's on the seafront - enter at your own risk.

    Dress Code: Men -Never noticed

Girls - as little as possible, and really tarty.
    Handbag compulsory.

Bateman's Brewery - wainfleet: Sensible tip for a change

Yes, you can now organise a p**s-up in a brewery.

Bateman's brewery has a bar in tne bottom floor of the windmill on it's site at Wainfleet. You will be able to buy some very fine beer here - XXXB is usually considered the best.

What is also nice is the fact they have garden filled with activities to keep children amused with giant versions of connect 4,snakes & ladders, twister, & Jenga. they also have boule and a minature croquet lawn.

the 6.35 special: Rocking on the rails

by sourbugger Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The rail line from Grantham to Skeggy is now being run as a 'community railway'.

A recent intiative (as March 06) is to run some special 'themed' services on about a monthly basis.

The first one will feature the Celtic group 'The band from County Hell', leaving Grantham for Skegness at 6.35 PM (some of the more elderly UK readers may get the little joke here)

Quirky, weird, and off the wall the idea may be - but I hope it works.
