Woolsthorpe Manor is the preserved (by the National Trust) home of Sir Issac Newton. We enjoyed seeing his famous apple tree and the small farm that his family owned back in the 1600's. It's worth a short stop to see this history and the bed where such a famous person was born.

Belton House, another great National Trust site, was built in the 1600's and is one of England's best examples of Restoration architecture. It has beautiful lawns and gardens, plus the house is filled with interesting furniture. It's an especially fun place for children because of the very large playground. We had lunch in the small but adequate restaurant. On the grounds of Belton House is an old RC church dating back to the 12th century - also a greenhouse is very interesting near the outdoor fountain and sundial.

    Other facts of interest:
Film location for the BBC's Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and Tom Jones
    Stunning silver and furniture collections
Children and parents can dress up in Victorian clothing
Orangery, Italian Garden with fountain and Dutch gardens
Landscaped deer park for year-round walks
The National Trust's largest adventure playground

    The Little and Large show

Lincolnshire was home to what has been claimed to be (and at the time) both the smallest and largest men who ever lived.

Tom Thumb lived in the village of Tattershall until the age of 100 (0r 101). This is the original Tom Thumb and completely unrelated to the American 'General Tom Thumb'. Thers is memorial to him in the church near the font and rather amazingly a tiny house in the market place on the roof of a normal house, where it is claimed he lived.

At the other end of the scale Daniel Lambert (actually from Leicester) weighed in at a massive 739 pounds, which I make to be over 53 stone ! In his day.

Fat Dan, as Lambert was called, ate no more than the average man. His weight was probably caused by a glandular imbalance. According to legend, Lambert liked to float down the River Soar with children on his belly. He worked in the town jail until age 30, when he began exhibiting himself in his apartment.

When Daniel died in Stamford , a wall of his room had to be demolished in order to get the body out. He was buried in an enormous custom-made coffin.

Displays concerning both characters can be found in the Stamford Museum.

    visiting Lincoln Cathedral

Lincoln is a wonderful city. And it is different from other places I've been around the area: its historic centre is built on top of a hill. The views are great.

The gratest site is of course is Lincoln Cathedral. Massive. Great architecture. I need to go again and take some more.

    walking along the North Beach

The first time I came to this beach, I was taken for a day trip and I was not prepared for this.

We left the car and the parking area and we started walking...And it was endless. Where is the sea? I have to walk so much and the beach never ends!

And after 5 minutes or so, you are enjoying it like a kid! Fantastic! Just think of different games with your friends. Be silly enough to write your name with enormous letters. Simon's friend had his kite or should I say 2-3 of his kites. Great fun with a bit of wind.

No tourists so you can have fun without being watched.

Lovely subjct for experimenting with your camera as well.

Oh yes. There you are, I can see a bit o water. Let's walk a bit further near the sea...

walking with your dog in Louth park

Louth is another small town with some character.

It may be useless information but it happens to be the seat of the Honda motorcyle team which if I remember is one of the best in the world.

Once with our friends from Louth, we were queuing (I was just observing everybody) to see the bid motorcycle stars, in this little town! I imagine this is interesting if you like motorcycles.

    I prefer nature myself!

So, there you are. I was invited to check this lovely park which is so peaceful, and just fantastic in autumn really. It is a lovely place for walking with your dog.

I miss my dogs...They would have loved running up and down here.

You've pretty much got the place to yourself out of the holiday season. Long stretches of sand and the occasional blue-ish sky makes the beach a nice place to walk.
