Favorite thing: The Beatles are from Liverpool. Everybody knows that. I really like how the whole city still wasn't turned into a Beatles trap!
The local tourist information has a great slogan on their plastic bags "From MErseyside to YOU" and John Lennon airport has probably the most suitable slogan I have ever heard of: "Above us only sky". It's really easy to find great slogans for your business in Liverpool - there are so many songs to choose from ;-)
OK, there are statues all around Mathew street (The Birthplace of the Beatles), there's lovely souvenirs with the Yellow Submarine that I always have to buy when I am here, there's a Beatles museum and Beatles tours but that's about it. Not too much, not too little. Yeah Yeah Yeah!

Favorite thing: Liverpool is the birthplace of "The Beatles". There's a street along in the town center with many pubs having the atmospheres of the beatles.
There's a museum show casing the story of the Beatles from the 1960s.

Favorite thing: To many people Liverpool's most famous claim to fame is as the home of The Beatles. I've never been a big Beatles fan (well I'm waayy too young to even remember them properly) but I know many of you out there are, so....
The Cavern Club, where The Beatles started out stands on Mathew Street. The original club has been demolished, but the building that stands in its place 'Cavern Walks' contains a replica of the club in its basement. Also on Mathew Street is a bronze sculpture 'Four Lads Who Shook The World'.
Nearby on Stanley Street is the statue 'Eleanor Rigby', which sits on a bench. It was placed here in 1982.
There is various other stuff scattered around the city too (see elsewhere in these tips)

Favorite thing: Danielle was once more a good sport and posed by another Beatles icon in Liverpool. Here she is by the Yellow Submarine sculpture. It is near the Prince Albert Docks and not far from the Superlambananna sculpture.

Favorite thing: Liverpool became world famous due to the Beatles. You can trace the history of the fab four by visiting the Cavern, (the live music club the Beatles often performed in). Seeing The Beatles Story Experience at the Albert Dock; or for real fans you can take the Magical Mystery tour, and see the famous landmarks immortalised in their songs, such as Penny Lane and Strawberry fields.
Fondest memory: Guess who the John Lennon airport at Speke is named after??

Fondest memory: Memories of the Beatles are everywhere.
In the basement of the Cavern Walks shopping centre is the sculpture in memory of the "Fab Four". There was even a poignant boquet for John Lennon there...it was near to the anniversary of his death at the time.

Favorite thing: Visit Paul McCartney's childhood home! (ok, only if you're a Paul/Beatles fan, but if you are, there is nothing to compare to it!)
Fondest memory: This is easy, what I miss most from Liverpool is walking into town every day and passing through Mathew Street, with that lovely 'birthplace of the Beatles' banner overhead, and noises from the Cavern Club drifting by.

Favorite thing: Check out all the Beatles things and tours--Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, the Cavern Quarter, the Cavern, the Blue Angel (they hung out there before becoming famous). Check out the general nightlife on Slater Street, and Cream/Nation if you're into hip, expensive clubs. There are also many theatres and a nice art museum and natural history museum (complete with planetarium).
Fondest memory: Getting there. Two friends from Wittenberg, my undergraduate university, and I flew into Manchester and stumbled our jetlagged behind to the train station, where we took a very slow train into Liverpool. We arrived at Lime Street Station, an open-air train station. From there we took a cab to the university and found our rooms with only a little difficulty. It was exhilirating and frightening to pull this off--my first time outside the US. Then I realized I was extremely tired and fell asleep, and felt worse when I woke. I suggest sleeping on the plane when flying to Europe.

Favorite thing: When visiting LIVERPOOL you must visit MATHEW STREET where it all began for the BEATLES. The ALBERT DOCK is a great place for a day out eating and drinking. Dont forget the MERSEY FERRIES at the PIERHEAD. CHINATOWN is also a must, more restaurants than you can shake a stick at, but WONGS is a good one.
Fondest memory: LIVERPOOL is the ferry trips across the MERSEY with mum dad and gran to NEW BRIGHTON. The gulls following the boat (royal iris, royal daffodil, woodchurch). The smell of the salty sea and the white swell of the waves. The smell of the indoor fair in new brighton, there was never any smell quite like that.

Favorite thing: Several operators run tours of old Beatles sites, like John Lennon's boyhood home, the Cavern Club, etc. Some of the tour guides are about the same age as the Beatles and had passing contact with them years ago. The tour that I took was really interesting.
