Outside Drinking Area
1 more image

The Cracke is a great little pub where John formed his first band 'The Dissenters' in 1960. The great news is the decor and layout have hardly changed. Unlike many establishments it retains a maze of little rooms and the walls still sport a rather crazy mural from the '60's. The pub attracts a rather diverse clientele including students for the near by Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. This Institute was part financed by that other guy Paul McCartney. The pub has recently opened up the rear yard making a popular outdoor drinking area.

Club Jaxx: A bit of Rough and Tumble

This was the last venue of the Hen Night. We were in the VIP area which was through a combination lock door and up a flight of stairs where the balcony over looked the dancefloor. It was a really good night; we danced our socks off.

If you did want to go to the dance floor it was difficult getting back into the VIP area. A couple of the girls found this out and the manager/owner wouldn't let them back in without a fight. To cut a long story short they ended up getting thrown out as the owner thought they had abused him; they got thrown down the stairs (literally), so that kinda ended the night.

But, all in all it was a good night in there - perhaps just stay away from the vip area as it was bugger to get back in!

BEATLES HANGOUT

THIS CLUB WAS IN THE 60"S A PLACE THAT THE BEATLES USE TO GO AFTER PLAYING LONG AND HARD AT THE CAVERN AND THEN GOING TO THE GRAPES TO HAVE SOME BEERS.. SO THEY USED THIS PLACE AS A RETREAT FROM THE HOT AND SWEATY ATMOSPERE OF THE CAVERN.
THERE IS STILL A PICTURE OF JOHN,PAUL,GEORGE AND PETE BEST FROM 1961 HAVING SOME SUDS.
THIS IS THE PLACE PETE BEST HEADED TO AFTER HEARING THAT HE HAD BEEN KICKED OUT OF THE BEATLES........

Carling Academy Liverpool 1 & 2: Live Music

If you want to see some great bands whilst in Liverpool check out the Carling Academy 1 & 2. From the outside it looks like an old factory unit and guess what? it looks the same from inside as well! Actually it is well suited to its purpose no seats but two concert areas and plenty of bar space within the actual concert area. Recent acts have included KT Tunstall, Zero 7, Bic Runga & Jose Gonzalez. Saw all of them and all were brilliant nights.

If your more Black Sabbath and ZZ Top than Zero 7 or Ladytron the Swan Inn is probably for you. A bikers pub without the bikes but not one in which to feel intimidated. Good beer and reasonable prices. The Tatt's come free! Open 12.00pm to 11.00pm.

Baby Cream
1 more image

Liverpool has strong historical links with the Cream clubbing empire. Unfortunately the original Cream is no more and the legendary Creamfields Festival has found a new home this year. The good news is Baby Cream continues to grow. Different location down on the Albert Dock waterfront. Ambient dance sounds combined with a great venue make it worth checking out. Try out their cool 'Creamselector' to burn any tracks you hear and take away to remind you of that lost weekend in the 'pool!

Korova is one of the coolest clubs in Liverpool. If it sounds familiar well it takes its name from the milk bar in Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Fortunately its drinks don't tend to lead to the same behaviour. Come here to listen and dance to indie, electro and other beats. Korova has top DJ's and live music. Best on Friday nights. 9.00 - 4.00am

The great thing about the Krazy House is it attracts such a mixed bunch of people. Indie, goths and more conventional clubbers all rub shoulders. Great atmosphere and good music particularly at weekends.

Well I must say Im very impressed with the nightlife here. We visited Walkabout, Modo?, The Cavern, Exchange Bar & The Pumphouse. Drink prices didnt seem too bad, a bit cheaper than home. Lots of cheesy & chart music to dance to, lots of fit people who are out to enjoy themselves, what more can you ask for. The only downer was that my friends coat was robbed, maybe thats why no one wears them when they are going out...
