by darkjedi Lewis’s was founded in 1856 by London-born entrepreneur David Lewis, who arrived in the city in 1839. The Beatles played on the roof of the store on November 28 1962, and a young Paul McCartney worked there as a temp during the 1950s. It became a regular meeting place for John Lennon and his then girlfriend Cynthia Powell who would gather by the famous naked man Jacob Epstein statue, Liverpool Resurgent. Lewis's, famous for Jacob Epstein's nude male statue, towering above the front entrance, is probably the most famous department store in Liverpool and is a well-known meeting place for courting couples. Labels such as Oasis, Kookai, Coast, Morgan, Warehouse and Principles are being joined by Vicky Martin, Betty Barclay, Jane Shilton, Ellie Grey and Radley. The 'statue exceedingly bare' is celebrated in the song 'In My Liverpool Home' made popular by The Spinners. Theme: Department StoreAddress: Ranelagh Street

Do you see the pound note in their eyes? by Bigs At Williamson Square you find a huge Liverpool FC Fanshop. Sure we couldn't miss it, even if we didn't new any players before we entered. When we came out again we knew that even our old German national team player is playing here.
This shop sells anything the fan needs, from jerseys to fridge magnets.
A lot, if you like! Leave a Comment Theme: Sporting GoodsAddress: Williamson SquareDirections: City Center

Liverpool FC Club Store by gordonilla I encountered this store quite by accident - however I did drop into see what was happening. It was busy and the shop had a real buzz to it. Many non residents were in the store; very few scouse accents to be heard. I suppose it could also be said for the Everton FC club store - however, I did not see that anywhere in the city centre. (perhaps I should have gone to specsavers?)
Club merchandise of course. Leave a Comment

You will never walk alone - except in Everton by sourbugger Many visitors to the city are devoted followers of Liverpool FC (current company excepted) and so the desire to buy replica kits and the like is no doubt attractive. The main store is at the stadium, underneath the 'Kop' although there is also another large store near Clayton Square in the city centre(just ask a local)
Announcing Sourbugger's end of season Liverpool FC sale - whilst stocks last : Gerard Houllier's big book of management success. The Michael Owen guide to speaking simple Spanish. 'How to score goals' by Emile Heskey
All very overpriced (including the above) Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Anfield road, Walton

Paul and the boys by sourbugger The Shipyards may have gone, the port maybe on it's knees, but Liverpool is no longer the economic basketcase it was ten or twenty years ago New industries have sprung up - and trading on the music heritage of the city is certainly one of them. The "Rock off" shop in Matthew street inhabits a corner of the small shopping centre. Virtually every kind of T-Shirt, Poster, mug nick-knack a curio you could imagine is on sale here. There is a very heavy reliance on Beatles inspired pieces, but many other singers and bands feature as well.
Obviously everybody needs the last example to go on sale of Beatles figurenes in their 'Yellow submarine garb' - a snip at fifty quid !
From about a quid up to thousands Leave a Comment Theme: MusicAddress: 6 cavern walks, matthew streetPhone: 0151 227 1963Website: www.rockoff.co.uk

Sensible shoes for Liverpool by sourbugger Vivienne Westwood opened a boutique in Matthew street in 2003. The store is said to have the flavour of a Hollywood film set - although I must admit it was lost on me. For a cutting edge clothing design company - her frocks have always shocked - it seems a pity (in a way) that the new shop has been sited on a street that wallows in the 1960's. I would have though such a company would want a much more avant-garde location. On the other hand, a company must make money where is can and Westwood was a vital part of the 60's culture that for a few years made Britain the trendiest (or grooviest man) place on planet earth.
