My experiences of these stadiums are of course going to them play Manchester City. I've been to Goodinson Park (Everton F.C) twice and Anfield (Liverpool F.C) more than five times.
If you like football and are in the area, go and watch a game in one of these stadiums. Both stadiums are easy to find (being separated by Stanley Park) and have good facilities for supporters.
Anfield has stadium tours and a museum to visit. I would think that you would be more likely to get a ticket for Everton than Liverpool as Everton has not been as successful. You are looking at £35-£40 for a match day ticket.

This is the ground of Liverpool F.C, a famous soccerclub. There is a museum in the stadium worth visiting. Here you can watch and learn a lot about one of Europes most winning football teams. Five times winner of the Champions League and 18 times winner of the highest division in England.

This is a must for all die-hard Liverpool fans. Oh well... this is the main reason why I stopover at Liverpool during my London stay.
The stadium tour costs 9 pounds and departs hourly. You'll get to see the dressing room, the player's tunnel and of couse the stadium view.

Go to a match at Goodison Park, the home ground of Everton F.C. If possible and if you can get a ticket then don't miss the local derby between Everton & Liverpool.. They share one of the most illustrious rivalries in English Premier League History. Just in case you are thinking of buying ticket online you can try www.evertonfc.com/ or www.worldfootballtravel.com

If you a fan of the 'beautiful game' why not come and pay homage to the world’s greatest football club. With plans for a new stadium well advanced this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit this historical ground. In addition to gazing at no less than five European trophies you can touch the famous sign and sit in the manager’s dugout

If you in Liverpool make sure its when Liverpool Football Club are playing a home game at the famous Anfield.. Do what ever you have to to get a ticket and you'll have one of the best 90minutes of your life.. What more can I say? I was lucky enough to watch the mighty reds take on Chelsea, Arsenal and Sheff Utd and have got a 100% win record :)
If there is a match on then make sure you get there early.. Especially if you want to go to the club store cos it gets very busy before the match.. Also you must definately be in the stadium before the match starts cos thats when the famours anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone" is sang.. You dont wanna miss that and the passionate KOP waving there flags and holding their scarfs aloft..
But even if there is not match the go on the stadium tour which I'm told is really good.. Unfortunately I havent been on it cos there are no tours on matchdays..

If ever there was an English football club with justification for having a museum, its got to be Liverpool FC. Like most great clubs, it's had its share of top class players, but what makes the Reds stand apart from the others is a record of trophy winning second-to-none, made all the better since the arrival of Rafa Benitez and the unforgettable Champions League triumph of 2005.
For me, the museum is second to non and houses all the trophies Liverpool Football Club have ever won. Including the Champions League trophy from the 2004/2005 season. It also has two cinemas, one showing the heriocs of last season in the Champions League Final and the other showing the history of Liverpool Football Club and the famous Spion Kop. It also has a piece of the famous Kop to stand on whilst watching this footage.
The stadium tour allows you behind the scenes at Anfield, offering the chance to visit the dressing room, walk down the tunnel to the sound of 45,000 cheering fans, touch the famous 'This Is Anfield' sign and sit in the team dugout. The tour guides are really knowledgable and enthusiastic and there will be lots of opportunities to take some fantastic pictures! The stadium tour takes around 45 minutes to complete and then you can spend as long as you want in the museum. Price for the stadium tour is £9 and museum is about £5. Please see the link to the website for up to date prices. When I visited we were told we could only go to the museum as the tour was fully booked. I managed to get our names down on the reserve list and we managed to get a place on the next tour. This resulted in us paying a little more as I think you pay a combined price usually if you book in advance for both the tour and museum.

Ho ho, check out Anfield, the mecca for all Liverpool fans! There is no need to explain much for true blue fans of soccer and the club. I am not exactly a big fan of the footie but just being there at the stadium was surreal. Imagine the feeling I had when I was there for a match on home ground; gosh, it was mind-blowing!
of course a visit is not complete without spending $ at the retail store...heaps of stuff to choose from...the only thing stopping me was the strong pound exchange rate against my home currency :(
as best as you can, do not buy from the touts coz (1) the police are always patrolling there to stop such transactions... a holiday to the police station ain't that funny. (2) one can never be sure that the touts are selling genuine tickets.
but the supa-desperate us were so eager to get into the Liverpool-Turkey game (qualifier for Champions League) that we paid 45 pounds each (original price was 33 pounds each, I think)... thank God that the tickets were real....
the stadium was clean; seats are numbered and not too comfortable but it's ok...most of the time, our bums are not on the seats anyways. the toilet cubicles are small, small, small...try to empty your bladders before the match starts.
after the match, going back was challenging. the road outside the stadium was packed, with people on the streets, blocking the cars and cabs from moving. not a wise time to be stuck in a cab with the meter diligently rocking away. try walk further down away from the stadium where there are plenty of buses to bring you back to city centre. the fare is much affordable than a cab's and at night, it brings you back to the city rather quickly.
ultimately, highly recommended! and soak in the ambience by singing along with the liverpool cheers, "we won it 5 times; we won it 5 times; in istanbul, we won it 5 times!"

If you decide to go to Liverpool, you have to visit Anfield, the home of the Liverpool Football Club and the heart of the Liverpool people. In Liverpool they have two football clubs the other one is Everton and their ground is Goodison Park. The football grounds are very close to each other at Anfield.
There is a friendly rivallary between each of the supporters and when they play their derby match through the year their true colours come out. Liverpool is Red and Everton is Blue.
Liverpool supporters theme song is "Walk On" by Gerry and the Pacemaker.
If you want to see Liverpool play I suggest you organize your tickets a few months before you go and pick them up at the ground. We did that this time and it was fantastic, the staff were so helpful when we told them that we were travelling from Australia and wanted tickets for a match. If you can't get tickets to see a match then do the Anfield tour and viist the locker rooms, go through the famous tunnel leading down to the pitch, see the trophy room and watch the video. For a die-hard supporter it brings tears to your eyes.
