Minture Railway
This narrow gauge railway track runs throughout the summer period (11am – dusk) transporting passengers from Marine drive (Next to the Ocean Plaza) to the Pleasure land amusement park. The track albeit short is quite old dating back to 1911 when the first steam train ran along its track.
Today the railway company owns a total of 4 trains and a fifth one is on order.

In summer there are steam padddle trips available on the Mississippi style " Southport Belle" and other boating activites such as jet boat rides.
The steam paddle boat trips seem a bit dear at £2.50 for adults and £2.00 for children. for just 20 minutes around the marine lake area. Jet boat trips cost £3.00 for adults and £2.00 for childrenn.

Southport makes a great day out from Liverpool by train - a regular service operates on the Northen line of the Merseyrail via the Central or Moorfields Liverpool stations.
Takes about 40 minutes to reach Southport.
