Norwich Train Station at night by GibJoe You can get from London to Norwich by train from Liverpool Street Station. It is a 90 minute ride and costs £66 return peak (April 2007), there are cheaper rates I believe after 7 o'clock. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery by mrssheridan Parking is next to impossible in Norwich - but all is not lost! The buses are frequent and inexpensive, for example, the No 25 from the railway station into the city runs every 10 minutes - that's if you can't be bothered to walk mostly uphill for about 20 minutes. If you must travel to Norwich by car, there a numerous park/ride car parks surrounding the city with frequent bus services into the centre. Leave a Comment

There are trains from Liverpool Street station in London. The trip take about 2 hours. The company that runs the trains is called One Railway. You can get cheap tickets if you book in advance. Check out the website for latest deals. You can walk from the train station into town but if you have luggage you might want to get a taxi from the taxi rank outside the railway station. You can get around Norwich city centre on foot, there is no need for a car. However, if you want to explore the best bits of the North Norfolk coast you will need a car. There is a local train service to the coastal resorts of Cormer and Sheringham. Some of the smaller places are served by an infrequent bus service. I've noticed that the local bus company generally puts on the oldest most dilapidated buses on these routes! You will see so much more with a car. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Norwich is a hub for rail and bus services throughout East Anglia. We reached the city quite easily by train from Ely, but there is a direct link to London. One day trip we took out of the city was to see the abbey at Wymondham. First Bus run intercity coaches around the region, including Peterborough, Kings Lynn, Cromer, Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Cambridge. A day ticket on all these services costs £10. We used their express services to reach Aylsham and Kings Lynn (more details can be found in the transport tips for those locations). The Broads Hopper bus links a string of attractions, villages and transport interchanges outside Norwich. It runs from Blickling Hall (a National Trust property), through Aylsham and on to Wroxham, Ranworth and Acle. On our daytrip we used it take us from Aylsham to Woodbastwick, from where we walked to Ranworth and caught the bus again to Acle. The Broads Hopper runs daily between Easter and Halloween, not on Sunday the rest of the year. The bus usually tows a trailer you can load your bicycle onto. Your bus ticket earns you discounts on cycle hire, cheaper admission to certain attractions and goodies at participating pubs. A day ticket in Spring 2006 cost £3 per person (two people can travel on one ticket for £4). Leaving Norwich we flew from their airport which is on the edge of town. The city operates a Park & Ride scheme to the carpark here so there is a bus about every 5-10 minutes leaving from the coach station. Just allow yourself plenty of time for the journey as it can take a half hour in heavy traffic, plus the bus doesn't actually pull up to the terminal but rather the carpark which is a 5-minute walk (or 2-minute trot). A single ticket cost £2. Leave a Comment

Norwich Cathedral by stiab3 Norwich Cathedral is a magnificent Norman building set in the largest close in England. The cathedral spire is the second tallest in England, and the cloisters are the largest monastic cloisters in the country. The nave roof bosses, illustrating the Bible from Creation to the Day of Judgement, and the Saxon Bishop's throne in the eastern apse, are unique features. The ground plan is almost unchanged from the Romanesque original, with fourteen bays making up an unusually long aisle.

Cobbled and quaint by TonyBagnall Elm Hill is one of the oldest streets in Norwich. This narrow cobbled street is flanked either side by genuine Tudor houses some of which are now pretty little shops. Apparently there are more Tudor houses in Elm Hill than in the whole of the City of London. Stop off for a lovely cup of tea and slice of delicious home made cake at the Britons Arms. The buidling is from the 15th century and has a thatched roof. If it is a nice day sit outside in the secret courtyard garden. It is also a cosy place in the winter time. The address of the cafe is 9 Elm Hill. Leave a Comment Address: Elm Hill, Norwich, NR3Directions: Central Norwich

medieval churchyard by yooperprof St. Giles is one of the many gems of Norwich's medieval churches. It stands at one of the tallest points of the city, and its eight tower bells proudly ring out a joyous tintinnabulation that is heard for miles. (I've always wanted to use that word.) The neighborhood around St. Giles was great for browsing among small shops filled with curiousities. I used to walk past the church and through St. Giles Street on my way into the center of Norwich. I hope it hasn't changed! Leave a Comment

by the river by uglyscot When arriving or leaving Norwich by train it is worth crossing the road outside the station and looking at the river and the boats moored there. It is very pleasant, and in summer there are colourful flowers. the weeping willows overhanging the canal are very attractive too. Leave a Comment Address: Riverside RoadDirections: from the train station, turn right and cross the road. Beside the gridge is a towpath and boats berthed beside it.
