Fizz buzz looks and sounds more like a wine bar, but actually its a really nice small restaurant with a silly name. It used to be called the merchant house. There are about six tables, all decently spaced. The menu is small, normally three or four dishes and its sort of french. Duck on mash with a tasty jus and mushroom risotto, that kind of thing. Food excellently prepared and tasty. Wine list is very good, and the waiter knows his wine. Since the demise of Adlards this is our favorite restaurant in Norwich

These are our thai rankings for norwich
1. Lam Thai (see below)
2. Thai Lanna: By cinema city, its as expensive as Lam Thai and food is very good. Space not as good as Lam Thai and portions smaller.
3. Sugar Hut: Near the castle, the sugar hut is nice and in same price bracket as above two and not quite as good.
4. One on Magdalen St (closed at the moment). Was pretty good when open, although decor
5. Siam bangkok: not bad, currently closed
6. One on the boat by the train station. Its on a boat! Only been once for lunch, was fine.
7. One on Prince Wales: super cheap fast food thai style. Much more like restaurants/bars in thailand actually. They do lots of deals. Food is ok, but you get what you pay for
8. Sweet Chili: Cheaper, food seems a bit anglisised. Very small (more seats upstairs?)
Lam Thai is the best thai restaurant I've eaten in outside of thailand. The dishes are carefully prepared with excellent ingredience. The service is great. Its more expensive than average, but worth it. There is a bar out the back which most people dont seem to know about. You can go and have a drink, sit in comfy sofas and listen to cheesy thai pop, then they call you when your food is ready.
Favorite Dish: standards are great, especially the green curry, but my favorites are the mussaman (sp?) and the spicy salad.

Our favorite curry house in Norwich is the Spice Lounge (near cathedral opposite Maids Head hotel). If you go you will understand why we call it a disco curry, the deco is a bit ott in classic tacky indian style (actually think they are bangladeshi)!. The food is a cut above the standard, its not very spicy though. Service is very good, place is clean and shiny. Its usually very busy, you often actually have to book. Portions are very large
Favorite Dish: I like the Chicken Vindaloo and the Lamb rogan josh

one of only two japanese restaurants in norwich, Shiki is the best (the other on prince of wales is run by philipinos I believe). The decor is excellent, minimalist wooden benches. It is small, but has seating outside for the summer. I would recommend going for the all you can eat nights on mon or tues. You get two hours to scoff for £22. The sushi is ok, not great but hey, its norwich. We went once and ordered a normal meal. It was ok, but bad value. For some reason they dont do sashimi, maybe norwich is not ready for it
Favorite Dish: the nigiri is good, especially the unagi.

Update: The library have got their act together now, and we have been several since. They do the best (reasonably priced) sunday lunch in norwich.
the library has just opened in, surprise surprise, the old library. They have spent a lot of money converting it, and I hope its a success. We went the first sunday it was open for lunch. The lunch was ok, but not amazing, and they had a problem with the wood burners which I believe is now sorted. Their problem is they are set well off the road and dont seem sure if they are a restaurant or a bar. I think they would do better if they were more restaurant and less bar.
Favorite Dish: Sunday lunch carvery

Delia Smith's restaurant is set in Norwich city football club. As such, its a bit of a walk from the town centre. However, inside there is no footy reference. The feel is fifties classy, there is a long bar and jazz musicians were playing when we visited. The ambience is relaxed, the staff are friendly and the food is good. Overall, I liked it, probably in my top five in norwich. Tables a bit too close together though
Favorite Dish: I had thai beef salad for starter and salt beef with dumpling for main. Both were excellent. The main was an excellent take on a very traditional meal. Michelle had prawn cocktail to start, disappointing retro dish and a lamb curry, very much an English curry, but good.

We went to a wedding reception ......
The bread rolls were indedible, virtually everyone left them.
The rest of the meal ......... what can I say, when we had such expectations ...... at the end of the reception, visitors from London were clambering to find the local fish and chip shop.
Has this affected my opinion?
You bet it has! That day must have cost a small fortune!

We had sunday lunch at the Blakney Hotel. the food is ok and they give you big portions. The best thing about this place is the upstairs coffee room. After your lunch you can have coffee there and admire the view out to sea. The whole length of the room is one large window so you get uninterrupted rooms. I think you can go for just coffee in the morning or afternoon - you don't necessarily have to eat there.
There is also a nice walk you can do - either to Morston heading west or Cley heading East.

Morston Hall is an old country house on the north norfolk coast (in Morston). It is now a hotel and restaurant. We went in Feb 2006 for sunday lunch. It was excellent. Tasteful decor, relaxed atmosphere with little whisper factor and very good food. We started with a small leak/gruyere tart, then had a small soup, something with bacon foam. Not sure what bacon foam is, but it was lovely. Then there was a kind of split main dish, firstly fish, chips and peas dish, then a roast beef main. Fish was lightly battered, pea sauce thing particularly nice, very fresh tasting. Beef course was the big highlight. Beef perfectly cooked with a tasty marmalade & onion topping. Yorkshire pudding was excellent, I reckon its made with cream because I think its the best yourkshire pudding I've ever tasted. Veg and potatoes were good, the jus just the right thickness and richness. Pudding was either a chocolate pie thing or creme brulee. Nice, but not amazing.
You can do a nice walk from Morston to the next village (Blakeney) to walk off some of the calories!
A great combination lunch, staff excellent. We had a walk along the coast from morston to blickling after lunch, experience overall lovely
Favorite Dish: Roast beef with yorkshire pudding.

EDIT: Oh no, the treehouse has closed down! We are most upset, a great Norwich place that has been open for 20 years has gone :(
This is a great vegetarian cafe with excellent wholesome food and a menu that changes every day. Nice, friendly staff. Go for a snack size meal (costs about £6) because the main meal size (£8) is a portion big enough for a giant. Whatever size you go for there will be so many interesting flavours on your plate that your taste buds will be very happy indeed.
Even if you are a meat eater like me go to this place with an open mind and you will not be disappointed. This is more of a lunch venue than somewhere for the evening (though they do open sometimes in the evenings).
The cafe is run by a workers co-operative.
Please note that the Treehouse is sadly no more - it has closed down :(
Favorite Dish: Everything I've had has been great and I've been quite a lot! This is hearty veggie and vegan food, not any of your nanby-panby goats cheese and rocket that seems to be served everwhere these days. You will leave feeling well fed and virtuously healthy. Although if you fancy being naughty they also serve organic cider, beer and wine.
