A lovely, no gorgeous, village at the Aysgarth end of scenic Bishopdale, West Burton charms all its visitors with its stone bridge and lively village green amongst the hills. Have a look at the site below for pictures of the village itself

    Dogs not allowed!!

A great walk from Aysgarth is to Bolton castle, however once you get to the castle ,dogs are not allowed in, unfortunately we didnt know this until we had walked the 4 or 5 miles to the castle-so we had to walk another 4 miles back before we could have our tea and cakes!
The walk is reasonably straightforward apart from a short stretch that is fairly overgrown but there is never any danger of getting lost as the castle can quite clearly be seen on the horizon for most of the walk.
Castle bolton is one of the best preserved castles in the country, it apparently has displays and exhibitions in the castle as well as tearooms which unfortunately I didnt get to see. There are also some beautifully fragrant medieval style gardens in the castle grounds.
You can pick up directions for the walk at the Falls visitor centre which sells an assortment of walking guides. You also start the walk from the visitors centre ( so thats handy then)
