There have not been trains to Grassington since 1931 and the only way to reach here is by bus.
You do not need a car to explore the Dales although it remains the easiest way to get around this vast area.
There are many bus routes in the Dales and by using a rail head such as Harrogate, Skipton or Ilkley it should be possible to use the buses to tour this area of the Dales.
Grassington can be reached by bus and the link to the official website has a lot of information. Please contact me if you need specialist advice or more links.
The main village car park is also at the bus station in Hebden Road. For sat.nav/GPS the postcode is BD23 5LB.
We parked on the road leading to Grassington last time we visited. Things though have certainly changed. Before entering Grassington you will see signs for visitors parking. Parking is on the site of a working quarry, but as it is a saturday when these special christmas events are the quarry is not open. You are then bussed into Grassington, which is probably in the region of almost 3 miles away!!!! When you want to return to your car, you just go to the pick up point and get on the next available bus. We didnt have to wait too long for a bus in either direction.
The cost of the parking the car and for the return bus journey was £4, which included all the occupants of the car.
