Fortune Teller, Whitby

Ok, I didn't venture into this kiosk to have my fortune read- I know some believe, but afraid I'm very cynical.
I have visited fortune tellers twice before, after being egged on by friends- and yes, It was predicted that I would travel!- how else would I get to work?, Hmm perhaps that bit did come true though! I would meet someone older than me, taller than me, and in a better position than me- ( at the time I was 18, 1.57 m high (still am) and I was a student Nurse- Hmm what are the odds of THAT happening?)
I have to admit these readings weren't at this particular venue, and Lee Ester Alita Lee-(blimey!) might have 'The Gift'
but- don't be swayed by the celebrity endorsements displayed on the outer walls- they're 'celebs' from the 70's/ 80's anyway!

If it's raining , it might provide shelter for 30 mins or so - for a price!

Unique Suggestions: Ok, take it as a bit of seaside fun! a giggle with your friends.

If you're worried about something, don't call here expecting to get the answer-

Fun Alternatives: Enjoy Whitbys other attractions, save your money for something more enjoyable!

Queue for fish & chips?

OK we all know that the English like to queue. But I don't quite understand the phenomenom here. The Magpie Cafe obviously has great Fish & Chips. But would you queue for an hour to have Fish & Chips when there is a hundred chippers in town? They can't be that special!

Unique Suggestions: Eat two portions ;-)

Fun Alternatives: There's lots of chippers in Whitby and I am sure they are not much worse.... and quicker!

Fortune Teller

Apparently a seaside town in England has to have all the tourist traps you can imagine - including a fortune teller.

Unique Suggestions: As what the future will bring ... and laugh about it!

Fun Alternatives: Instead of visiting the fortune teller you could also queue for fish and chips at the Magpie Cafe. I can tell you the near future already: You will have to wait for hours ;-)

Good Luck

If "good luck" is necessary to eat in this Chinese restaurant near the bridge I'd give it a miss I think ;-)

Unique Suggestions: Keep your fingers crossed!

Fun Alternatives: The chipper that serves fried Mars bars instead of fortune cookies is just across the street ;-)

Because Whitby faces north you get sunsets and sunrises over the sea. Certainly something to try and see while you are here.
