Loo at a map. York has the usual assortment of motorways and a ring road. But the City Centre is best seen on foot combined with a good bus system.
Of course my fav mode would be bicycle. 20% of the locals ride bikes to work as oppsed to 3% rdership nationally. Its a bike-freindly city for sure.
Favorite thing: I suggest you look at the other pages about York that I have rated. I think you will get some great information and see some wonderful pictures. From those you may better understand why York is high on my list of places to return.
Favorite thing: This is a must see city, especially if you are heading North to Edinburgh. It is a city rich in history, with interesting museums, nice restaurants and convenient B&B's. It is an old city that lets you step back in time to an earlier age.
Favorite thing: Here's another photo of the streets of York... I loved the cute buildings and cobblestone pathways so much that I couldn't stop taking photos everywhere we went. :) What a cute street... :)
Favorite thing: Luckily we didn't have any major problems with the floods which were happening while we were in England but a lot of locals did have! Some of the roads into York were flooded or flooding soon...
Favorite thing: Wander the streets if you get the chance... York has heaps of wonderful shops and interesting touristy things to do. It is a really pretty town too.
The above link will take you to a better photo.
