Take a riverside walk. At some parts of the river you can only walk on one side or the other, and at other bits you can walk on either side. The riverside walk runs right down out of the city towards Selby, passing Rowntree Park and the new Milennium Bridge on the way.
This view is looking towards Skeldergate Bridge as we walked from Rowntree Park
There is a nice riverside walk/cycle lane along the Ouse near Fulford it goes along from Fulford towards the city centre crossing the Ouse via the Millenium Bridge. It's a nice way to while away a day when the sun is shining:)
Fondest memory: Playing soccer by the Millenium bridge with some random dog. Good player sharp teeth though :)
Favorite thing: take a riverside walk. This is the view across the river to the back of Coney Street. The building in the picture is The Guildhall. The interior was badly damaged by an air raid, but it has been restored and some of the original work also escaped damage.
Favorite thing: take a walk along the river. There are many splendid buildings on the riverside, including a collection of Pubs and Restaurants. Boat trips leave from various points along the river and you can also hire small boats by the hour.
This photo is of a bridge over the FOSS.
It's next to the Guildhall which is well worth a look.
Fondest memory: Just walking around the streets of York and coming across scenes like the photo
Favorite thing: York is at the junction of the rivers Ouse and Foss. I am not sure which one this is! Tourists can also enjoy a Yorkboat river trip.
