Fondest memory: One memory I have is going into a china shop in the middle of town. All the famous makers were there from Wedgwood to Spode. Anyway, the building it was in must have been at least 400 years old if not older. It was weird because the ceilings were low and the floors slanted this way and that. Although a fairly small place, the narrow stairwells and half-stories made it easy to lose one's orientation. It almost felt like I was walking in a carnival fun house. Made me wonder what the feng shui principles would say about a place like this!
My favourite shop is called Lush. They sell wonderful soaps and bath-time goodies, body lotions etc. It might not sound very exciting but you can smell the place from a hundred metres away! It’s not expensive, but easy to come out having spent £30! Treat yourself! The chain has an internet site www.lush.co.uk and can supply to most of Europe.

Favorite thing: Go shopping - the city centre has always been an excellent destination for those who love shopping. In recent years there are several out of town developments that have appeared. Take a trip out to McArthur Glen Designer outlet, and Monks Bar (just off the ring road) where you can find many high street names such as Principles, Boots, WH Smiths, Woolworths, and Laura Ashley.
Fondest memory: My sweetest memory of York is the fantastic shopping at the Shambles! They have toy shops, sweet shops, woodcarving shops, bookshops etc. and I did the bulk of my souvenir buying over here. I bought 'Jack-in-a-Box', sweets and chocolates packed in engine red post-box tins, natural wood-box carved out of a tree trunk, post-cards and such..Wonderful, all my favourite things concentrated in just one place. How can I not love it?
