Hadrian's Wall Clothes.....!!!!
by nickandchris
If you are going to visit Hadrian's Wall, be warned, it is always freezing along this wild stretch of country. Reckon on it being at least 8 degrees cooler than other parts of Northumberland/Cumbria.We visited Mithraeum Sun Temple, just as the thick fog lifted and blue skies appeared. It was blowing a gale and we were absolutely perished.
Once we reached Rothbury, later that day, the temperature had risen to 18 c. You couldn't believe it was the same day!! Here, we had to strip off and sandals and shorts were in order (and this in early April!)
Layers of clothing for all conditions and strong walking shoes. A hood or hat is a good idea to prevent ear-ache from the wind and also gloves can come in very handy.

It can be wet and cold!

So whatever time of year you visit it is best to be prepared! Last time we were there was August and it wasn't too cold but there were downpours throughout the day so a waterproof and/or umbrella would come in handy!
Be Prepared

A daypack is usefull for carrying your lunch and other items which will be needed along the way, such as maps and raingear.
Sturdy hiking boots, warm clothes, preferably clothes which layer. Rain gear because the chances are it will rain and try to have windproof jackets as it was extremely windy when we were there.
Bandaids are always useful when hiking.
A small camera which fits easily in your pocket is best when hiking.
Maps so you don't get lost!
