The Durham Ox: 17th century former coaching Inn
The Durham Ox has provided food and drink for many years.
Situated across from the village green (and it's MayPole), This former coaching Inn offers a taste of 'Olde England'
A log fire in winter, comfy seating with traditional horse brasses adorning the walls. In summer , barbecues are held.
UPDATE, I've just heard from my parents that this is no longer a pub, but has been converted into flats!

Christys: Farm Shop and Restaurant
Christys Restaurant and Farm shop, Hockerton, Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
Friendly restaurant and Farm Shop, varied menu - sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes etc and daily specials board.
Good selection of starters, Mains and Deserts.
Licenced to sell beers and wines.
Also good selection of non alcoholic drinks
Attatched Farm Shop has a great selection of fresh meats/ sausages/ pies/ cheeses/ preserves/ breads/ ice creams etc.
I believe this venue opens in day for snacks/lunches etc-pine tables/rustic
Then at night opens as restaurant with table cloths etc for meals.
Largeish car park
Favorite Dish: Caramelised onion and Goats Cheese Tart, with salad leaves.
Nicely presented, hot tart, full of flavour, fresh salad garnish. £4.50
My parents had 1) poached salmon with asparagus and selection of veg
2) Ham , eggs and chips (with salad garnish)

The New Bengal: Indian Restaurant
The New Bengal Balti & Tandoori Restaurant
Extremely cosy restaurant with very low ceilings and uneven floors (even before the wine it's difficult to walk steady in here.) The food is out of this world and I would recommend this place as THE best Indian restaurant EVER!
Favorite Dish: Chicken Rogan Josh with Pilau rice and a Garlic Naan bread, closely followed by a bottle of German wine (and a taxi home.)
Neville Arms: Fantastic Food, reasonable prices
Nice country pub. Been here loads of times. Booking not normally required other than on Sundays when it gets extremely busy.
Food has always been fantastic. Fairly cosy, nice garden.
Favorite Dish: Without fail I always have butterfly chicken breast with Stilton Sauce, chips/fries and vegetables and it comes with a nice salad as well.
Steve usually asks for a steak in the stilton sauce which is equally good.
For starters I have always had deep fried brie and/or camembert with a small salad and a fruity sauce.
Home made apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
We often have to decide if we want either a starter or dessert as the portions are good and you'll never be left hungry.Related to:

1. Man Ho - a Chinese restaurant 3 minutes walk straight uphills along the City Hall. The dip sum is even better than you can find in many places in Hong Kong. No kidding !
2. Pitcher & Piano - also in the downtown area... easy to find. A pub & restaurant refurbished from a medieval church. The best pub I ever seen. You need to take a long queue if you go there on Friday and Saturday night.
The Hard Rock Cafe...but there...
The Hard Rock Cafe...but there are plenty of places to put on the feed sack and not be stuck with the traditional 'Sunday Roast' or fish and chips.
Rock and Roll memorabilia.
Favorite Dish: Cajun Chicken Sandwich and Guiness.

Nottingham has some great resturants. My favourite has to be Tequila's Mexican Restaurant.
Tequila's has a great atmosphere and is excellent value for money. Starter and main course is two for one and you get loads!!
Favorite Dish: The Fajitas are great!
Plendil's Restaurant Tip
This public house was built by Peter Nightingale (father of Florence) it was later turned into a hospice where Florence helped nurse workers from the Nightingale estate.
Beware of low ceilings or else you could end up with a headache having nothing to do with the number of pints you have drunk.
Nottingham has over 200...
Nottingham has over 200 restaurants on offer. One of the most popular restaurants is Harts which was recently voted The Guardian's 'Best Newcomer of the Year' restaurant. Other popular restaurants to try are the 'Sheriff's Lodge' banqueting hall (with no cutlery and evening entertainment), La Tasca, Merchants or Shimla Pink.
