Wobbly Wheel: Mixed messages
I have visited this restaurant twice at lunchtiime and it is about 8kms from my house. It is located next to a Premier Inn and there was no problem parking. It has a large restaurant and small bar and has wifi available for free. You are greeted on arrival by a member of staff who takes you to your table, where you make your selection from the menu before you order at the bar. There is a reasonable choice of food, with a number of offers and it is well present. The drinks and food are brought to the table by a member of staff who also clears the dishes. The food is typical of fast food served in pubs and so long as you are aware of this then you will not be disappointed. I tried the mushroom soup but it was nothing special. Lin tried a prawn cocktail but she said it could have done with more sauce. We have previously tried a jacket potatoes and a Chicken Club Sandwich both of which were fine.

The Buffet: Chinese all you can eat buffet
The Buffet is the second Chinese Restaurant in Banbury Town Centre that provides a reasonably priced all you can eat buffet. At lunchtime it provides about 50 different dishes for the normal three courses. I like this style of service because if I am on a lunch break I can eat straight away plus it gives you a chance to sample different dishes. There are a number of seating areas in the restaurant and you are not rushed. I tried a number of dishes and found them all delicious. The price varies with the time and the day of the week. 12 noon to 6pm on Monday to Saturday is the cheapest price at £6.90. Unfortunately this restaurant is closed at present.

Cori Restaurant: Home cooked Italian cuisine
We selected this restaurant after walking the entire High Street looking for a nice place. We were warmly greeted by the owner/maitre d'/server into a cozy atmosphere with table cloths and candles. There were about 12 tables and we were the first diners of the evening although others came shortly after us. We had studied the menu in the window before entering and decided to indulge in our favorite Italian veal dish - Veal Saltimbocca. We were offered and enjoyed a glass of house wine while waiting for our meal to be prepared and snacked on some warm bread that was promptly brought to the table. Our entrees were served in short order and were piping hot and delicious. In spite of an ample serving it was impossible to resist a portion of home made cheese cake as an "after." All in all, a superior dining experience and we would definitely return.

Fleur-de-Lis: Inexpensive Food
The Fleur-de-Lis is a public house, owned by the same national company that owns The Exchange in the High Street. That said the Fleur-de-Lis has a different character and being recently refurbished looks more up market. During the day it is aways busy with shoppers due to the attraction of inexpensive food and free wi-fi. It also has a covered outside area at the front of the building with tables and chairs for those who like fresh air. It opens at 9am every day including Sundays until late.
Favorite Dish: The farmhouse breakfast at £2.69 with a choice of black pudding or a large mushroom.
Bagel Bite: Freshly Made Bagels
Bagel Bite is new to Banbury. It offers a choice of freshly prepared bagels, ciabattas and baguettes. It is a take away but allows you to sit down inside, and outside during the summer at no extra cost. Its good for people watching during market days on Thursday & Saturdays. Its also housed in one of the local historical buildings. UNFORTUNATELY THIS SHOP HAS NOW CEASED TRADING.
Favorite Dish: A tuna bagel with salad.
San Carlo: Excellent Service
The San Carlo Ristorante/Pizzeria is a fairly new Italian Restaurant that has opened in Parsons Street, Banbury. So far I have only tried the fixed price lunch which cost £6.95 for a drink and one selection from the menu. Not wanting to end up with too much of it down my shirt I tried the Lasagne. The last time I had tried some Lasagne was in Berlin and it was runny and it did end up with it down my shirt. This was totally different. Though it was not a large portion it was really tasty. Other people in my party also commented on how tasty the food was. I have tried a second meal with spaghetti bolognese and my daughter tried a pizza. Both dishes were really nice and the pizza was a fair size for the price. They also do take away service. Restaurant Opening Hours: Monday - Saturday, Lunch: 12 noon - 2.30pm, Dinner: 6pm - 10.30pm.
Favorite Dish: Lasagne
Thai Orchid: Thai Food
Before it was a restaurant, the Thai Orchid was a green grocers and a small garden centre. Unfortunately the supermarket is now king and lots of these type of shops have been consigned to history. I have only eaten food at the Thai Orchid at lunchtimes. The food is not overly spicy and there is a large variety of different dishes to try if you opt for the buffet. The waiting staff are extremely attentive and quickly clear away dirty dishes. They also ensure that you have enough liquid refreshment. The meal can be topped off with a number of different deserts.
The Granary: Traditional Breakfast
The Granary, unlike some of the other restaurants in Banbury has space to move around. They provide a large traditional english breakfast in the mornings. Salads and a number of other dishes at lunch time, including snacks. In the afternoons there are a variety of different cakes. The restaurant is open 7 days a week and gets really busy on a Saturday. There are seats outside for those who wish to brave the weather.
Favorite Dish: The full breakfast its more than enough eat.
Chandlers: Friendly Service
Chandler's is one of my favourite places to meet family for a chat over a coffee during the day. They serve baugettes. ciabattas, sandwiches, quiche, salads & jacket potatoes. Everything is freshly made and you can order it the way you want it. They also sells cakes and crisps. You can eat in or take out and its non smoking.
Favorite Dish: One of my favorites is a salad box with a cheese, leek and onion topping which I take back to work when I'm in a hurry.
