Car boot sales: Just about everything
Car boot sales abound around Banbury. The idea of such a sale is simple: if your house gets cramped with all the things that you inadvertently bought but never use, put them all in your car boot and get rid of them at the sale. If your children have outgrown their clothes or are too old to play with their old toys, let other children enjoy them. If you get bored with a hobby and want to take up a new one, sell your collection to someone who will appreciate it. You can get just about everything there: things for you and for your home, gifts and collectables, books and CDs, all second-hand and therefore cheaper but mostly in good condition. It's a way of saving money as long of course as you don't buy things that you don't really need just because the prices are so low. Some people go to these sales regularly, every Saturday. And even if you don't want to buy anything, you can just browse, if only to discover what strange things were hidden in people's attics. Enjoy it.

Castle Quay Shopping Centre
Castle Quay Shopping Centre stands on the site once occupied by Banbury Castle which was built by Alexander, Bishop of Lincoln in 1135AD. The castle survived a couple of long seiges during the English Civil War but was demolished in 1648 and the stone used to repair other buildings in the town damaged during the seiges.
It is an unusual shape because of being constructed at 2 different times. None of the normal straight lines. It has the usual High Street Shops but also contains different ones like Chinese Medicine Shops. The local museum is located in within its precinct.
What to buy: Try a relaxing coffee and cake.
polisz szop: Polish food shop
Banbury now has a large Polish population. This food shop has recently opened in Parsons Street and now seems to be busy when I pass by. Though I have not purchased any food in shop yet, I did ask for some help to translate a document I had in Polish.
