Park End Nightclub: Park End Nightclub

by daniday

Definitely the best of a poor bunch of clubs in Oxford. Each night is slightly different but are mostly very mainstream and cheesy. Good for dancing, best when drunk. Drinks very cheap on Mondays and Wednesdays (beer £1 a pint). Nothing too outrageous. Trainers and jeans normally OK. Bouncers have been known to be rude and sometimes racist, but generally they are no problem.

.....and daylife as well, please.....Not a particular place, but more of an independent ratings list of ALL of the PUBS inside the ring-road (142 of them at the last count!), painstakingly researched again and again over the past 5 years or so.To save space you can view them at this site:http://www.earth.ox.ac.uk/~chrisw/pubindex.htmlMy particular centrally located favourites would have to include the Bear, the Turf Tavern and the Royal Oak, which are all old and tourist-friendly(apart from the Royal Oak, inexplicably) but you should really try a few and judge for yourself - after all it would be rude not to.....!Hmmm - interesting page format...?!OK - NIGHTCLUBS! - well they're nothing much to write home about, to be honest - Oxford is more of a pub place unless there's a big group of you (in which case any place is simply what you make it). For cheesy music you're in paradise - try...

Love it or hate it, as a student at Oxford, you will inevitably end up here. The good side is that you tend to know the majority of the people there, the bad side is, it's Filth (literally - the name students have christened this fine establishment). As a none student, you may have trouble getting in on a week-day without STudent ID. Be prepared for serious cheese. Normally pretty much anything goes. During the week even trainers are OK (as long as you are still vertical by teh time you get to the front of the queue). Slightly smarter at the weekend.

For clubbing, head for one of the following: The Studio, Park End, the Zodiac, The Bridge...Often playing cheesy music, these are a great night out if you've had a bit too much to drink! You need a student card for some of the nights (Studio: Tuesday, Park End: Weds, Zodiac: Mon, Weds, Thurs, Bridge: Thurs), so if you don't have one it's probably best to check...The Zodiac has some great gigs. Anything you like, usually! They're pretty casual.

The Isis: The Isis

by yellowstar

The Isis is a pub directly located at the river thames. In summer it is a great place to go out, sit under trees and enjoy a beergarden atmosphere. You have to walk there for about 10 minutes. This means there are no cars, no noise, except for the rowing teachers on their bikes who pass by regularly and shout instructions to their students sitting in their boats and row. there is no dress code

The Park End club.: The Park End club.

by Tara2001

This has to be the biggest and most popular club in Oxford. There are various rooms with all kinds of music playing, although generally a bit cheesy, there's nice atmosphere and its a good laugh! Anything goes except for trainers.

If you're looking for a pre-club haunt, this is it. The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is young and lively. No jeans or trainers on friday or saturday night.
