Oxford's city wall remains are scant.It ran from the castle along the southern edge of Broadstreet. Officially there were three gates, north, west and east. These now only remain in name, ie; Westgate Shopping Centre, Eastgate Hotel and St. Michael at the Northgate.
Michael's accommodation on Longwall Street backs on to a few wall remnants.
Amongst modern Oxford you'll find "ye olde" buildings, sometimes home to the most strangest of things! Old buildings mix with the new, easily and pleasantly.

See some of the old town wall in New College. Despite its name, New College is one of Oxford's oldest. It's also one of OXford's prettiest colleges, though not visited as much as the others.

actually its the old city wall, Oxford was given city status in 1542
