'Punting' is a traditional Oxford activity which involves propelling yourself down the river in a gondola. Best not to do it if you don't know how or you are very likely to fall into the river or crash into other boats. If you are prepared to blow money and risk the chance of falling into the river, go for it.
Walking tours in Oxford - generally a good thing, but be careful if your 'guide' is in his or her early 20s. It's very likely they are a student, and will have limited knowledge of the areas. If you appear very obviuosly foreign then they will blatently make things up (like the sunken church at the top of Cornmarket St.)
I found food to be very expensive. I paid ten pounds for a cup of tea and a half sandwich. Suggest you shop in a supermarket and take a picnic to the park. Christ Church meadows (off St Aldates)or University Parks (off Banbury Rd) are good. Feed the ducks while you are there!
Almost everywhere you have to pay for your car. Just follow the signs for the parkingplaces and do not try to find a cheap place somewhere in a street nearby! There aren't (as far as I know) We spend almost half an hour in finding a place for free, but ended up paying and walking (in the rain) for quite a while.
