Cooper's: Convenient Pub

by bpwillet

The restaurant staff is very nice and the food is actually pretty good. It gets very busy in there and the crowds can spill out into the terminal. There are many other fast food type of places all throughout the train station. So if you can't find room in the pub there quite a few other places to get a quick bite to eat before your train leaves.

Mr Wu's: Now Mr Wu.......has opened a restaurant

by sourbugger

From Sourbugger's London page: I must admit I don't know if the owner of Mr Wu's is actually called Mr Wu, but you will always find him busying himself around the goldmine in Wardour Street known as Mr Wu's - and you will always find him with a large mug of steaming hot (English) Tea in his hand. This Chinese buffet has a loyal following, and at less than a fiver it means you can fill up for virtually nothing. The range of buffet items is a little limited but the quick turnover always means huge dishes are coming out of the kitchens to help replenish the starving hoards. You may well have to queue to get in,queue to get to the buffet and queue to pay - and you must pay in cash as well.I had to (of course) add the lyrics from the famous George Formby Song for you enjoyment...Mr. Wu no longer has a laundry. Sad to say the business was flop.He shouted 'what a hope' as he chewed a bar of...

Friendly inn & Wonk kei's: Chinatown - sweet & sour

by sourbugger

From Sourbugger's London page :Friendly Inn in Chinatown do everything well at a reasonable cost , no unpleasent extras. This is the 'sweet'. The 'Sour' is on Wardour street opposite one end of chinatown. The food is great but the service is willfully terrible.I include a couple of everyday quotes you might hear in Wonk Kei's"Not possible..only chinese people can eat that!""You want separate bill you sit separate table"The choice is yours ! (p.s the webbed duck feet were excellent) Favorite Dish:The secret is to get a large group (about 8-10) and all mix in

The Tudor Rose: Very cool lunch...

by Bushman23

Ok, I admit it has been a long time since I was at the Tudor Rose, so I can't remember everything on the menu. All I do remember is i really enjoyed the light lunch we are there, and the service was excellent. As i said, only had a light lunch. Everything looked and smelled good if that helps!

Hard Rock Cafe: Heart and Soul

by bpwillet

Ok this is a must when you come to London. Since its opening 1971, it may be seen as a tourist attraction as well but it is the ORIGINAL! It iworth the trip to see what started the multi-city crazy around the world. The staff is very positive and the food is always good. They also do some pretty good mixed drinks

Bangkok House: Canterbury Thai atmosphere

by bpwillet

This is one of those places you never know until you go. I am a huge fan of Thai food and I love the ways that it is presented in so many dfferent places. I was really impressed by this place because of the interior decorations, the ornately decorated tables and traditional decor. The staff was also dressed in traditional style and the music was typical of that region. That is until they changed it to 50-60's Rock-n-Roll. But it was fun anyway. The Pad Thai was some of the best I have had in this country. I can't wait to go back. Please excuse the picture, I wish I had one from the inside.

Leicester Arms: Historic and comfortable

by bpwillet

This is a great town pub with a great historic atmosphere and broad clientele. "Shame to him who thinks evil" - the motto of the Order of the Garter surrounds the Sidney emblem on the sign over this Pensurst village pub. The Order of the Garter was founded by Edward III in 1347 and membership is limited to 25 Knights, as well as British and Foreign Royalty, appointed by the reigning sovereign. The badge of the Order is a blue garter, worn below the left knee, with the motto in gold letters.

The Market Inn: Great specials

by bpwillet

This pub in the historic market square of Salisbury is well worth it. Pub food may be "just pub food" but this was some of the best I have had. They have daily specials and the service was quite quick. There are a number of other good eateries along the Market Square to choose from.

Tip Photo
Noodle Bar: Good cheap restaurant

by srd130

This is a Singaporean and Malaysian style restaurant. It was my favorite based strictly on costs. It was about 6 USD for a sit down meal with tea, which is unheard of in London. The neighborhood is sketchy, but its on the main street. I ate here often because it is across from a major railway station I often used.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem: Oldest in England

by bpwillet

Not your typical pub food. It is full of flavor and can really fill you up. The sandwiches are massive and the helpings are generous. Crusaders once gathered here and there is a small gallery on the top floor. The upper half is actually cut into the rock face. The local beer.
