The Body Shop: Treat yourself at the Body Shop

by purplekedi

We all know "The Body Shop" and most of us have at least one in a major city in our countries. I know that we have it here, but it's just so expensive! I know it's like that in most places. So, while you're in London, stock up! You will find from everything necessary in your daily life to some luxurious items. It's a haven for hair & skin care products and everything smells wonderful! Accesories, fragrances for you and for home, make up, haircare, suncare and skincare products as well as products for your well being. They have a wide ange of products for men too, especially for those with sensitive skin. Ty the after shave products, trust me! If it's a sale time, you can save a lot! Expect to pay about 15 GBP for a body butter, however, if you buy those boxes with body lotion, shower gel and whatever, you will save much more.

Pitsea Market and others: East end and Essex market culture

by sourbugger

From Sourbugger's Basildon page :'fell off the back of a van' mate,...'fire damaged stock' mate. Many people in Essex originally come from the East End of London. They may have been seeking a better life in the green fields of Essex, but the Market trader philosophy came with them.Places like Pitsea Market are where you can really participate in the 'lifeforce' of local people. The market operates with about 200 stalls, 4 days a week in the centre of Pitsea's shopping area. Full details are available from the listed website. Even the operators have few pretensions and use a mock-up to Del and Rodney's Robin Reliant three-wheeler (from the classic British Comedy 'Only fools and Horses') with 'Pitsea Market' on the side to help publicise the place. You won't find any tourists here, and thus no stalls aimed at tourists, but if you anything from DVD's to Cauliflowers, then this is your...

Thornton's: Scrummy chocolate.

Lots of towns have a 'Thornton's' shop .....they make excellent chocolates which aren't too expensive. Look out for bags of 'mis-shapes'....they may not be the perfect shape but they taste just as good and cost less!

Paperchase: Stationery, art & craft, cards, photo albums

by Penelope4

I liked the window display and I told myself that I will buy me some nice notebooks from that shop and I did the next time I passed by that place. Later I found out that Paperchase is a chain store where one can find office supplies, cards, art and craft, etc. Stationery, kids stuffs for school, etc Average price, I guess.

PADDINGTON BEAR(S)

by DAO

PLEASE TAKE OF THIS BEAR.That’s the label each of these bears comes with. Do I look like a Zoo Keeper or some sort of wildlife foster parent? A toy for children that begs is absolutely wrong in my humble opinion. In fact ‘Paddy’ isn’t just asking for some spare change. He is asking to be housed, cloth, fed and educated to University level. Yeah, just throw in a car at the appropriate age, telephone bills and the high cost of honey. Disgusting! You can find this little anti-social outcast at – you guessed it – shops in Paddington Station (Tube and Train). I really think I need to ask. If his Mum didn’t want him, do you really want an anti-social bear cub that will grow to 1.5 to 1.8 meters (% to 6 ft) tall and weigh 130 – 200 kilograms (286 – 440 lb) in your house? And you think human teenagers throw fits. Wait until you see damage on a Biblical scale in your house in a few years. Then...

Various.: Buying memorycards (gosh, how times do move on!)

by leics

Memorycards are found in lots of shops, but are always going to be cheapest from a supermarket. If you can find a biggish branch of Asda, Tesco, Morrissons and so on you will probably find they have a range of cameras and camera accessories available (not all own-brand). This is also the cheapest place to get rechargeable batteries.Otherwise, try chainstores such as Dixons, Comet or Boots the chemist (larger branches of the latter). They'll stock rechargeable batteries as well as memorycards etc, but may not carry all types of specialist camera battery.Buying memorycards (or batteries) from a specialist photography store will always be the most expensive option. Depends on card size/type, but from 5GBP upwards in supermarkets as of October 2008.

Woolworths: Not Dead Yet

by jduck1979

While the original F.W ,Woolworths' chain of stores in the USA may have died out, here in the UK the name is still alive and kicking... still spluttering along as a seperate company and trading on the London Stock Exchange (WLW.L), and one of the most recognisable brand names on the main shopping streets of England (and many out of town spots too). "Pick & Mix" sweets.... pick the ones you fancy, stick 'em in a bag, take them to be weighed at the counter.Computer GamesMusic & Movie CD & DVD'sStationary (paper, pens, pencils, envelopes, etc)Children's clothes ("Ladybird" own brand range)Children's Toys Not sure how much the Pick n Mix is now, but was 62p per 100g last time
