I think this might just take the award for being the oldest working brewery in Britain.
I took the family here for a meal, and everyone, including two fussy children enjoyed the food.
As well as food they specialise in home cask beers:
1642 Three Tuns Beer: A golden bitter with light maltiness, comprising nutty and coffee flavours, leading to a refreshing medium/strong, spicy bitterness with a long-lingering finish.
Clerics Cure: A light-tan beer presenting medium malty-sweetness with powerful, spicy, floral bitterness and hop character designed to re-create the iconic style of India Pale Ales of the 19th. Century.
XXX: A beer from a recipe passed down by the Roberts family who owned the brewery for several generations; a pale-straw-coloured, premium bitter with simple, light malty-sweetness, delicately balanced with light bitterness of floral, earthy character.
Favorite Dish: All the dishes use locally sourced, fresh ingredients
First courses hot smoked salmon salad with dill vinaigrette, whole baked camembert with "dipping bread" and satay king prawns with peanut dip.
Main courses include beef & wild mushrooms in 3x beer with root vegetable mash and chargrilled rump steak burger with tomato/coriander salsa, coleslaw & fries.
