Architecture

by Jenniflower

Soemthign I really love about this county's architecture and building style is the material they use. Much of the historical buildings are made of limestone... and when the whole town has this lovely stone, it lends a wonderful ambiance. There is gothic and georgian architecture around, especially in Bath... elegant, with clean lines.

Wells High Street

by Jenniflower

The High Street has everything you might need, retailers, coffee shops etc... and it is very pretty too!At the one end there is an awesome sight too... that's where the entrances to Wells Cathedral and The Bishop's Palace, alongside the cathedral, is.In front of the Bishop's gates was a bustling market... I am tempted to say village market as it certianly has that feel to it... but as Wells IS a city, I had best call it a city market! :)Quaint, huge photo potential, we will definately come back here!

With the short winter days, we had to rush a bit during this day's drive, because we had to be near Land's End in Cornwall by the following afternoon - and we did succeed...
