Take a donkey ride along the beach, it is great fun for the kids. The rides start from by the Grand Pier and take you a few hundred yards along the beach and back. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There is plenty of parking available in the multi-story car park at the Soverign shopping centre, I`m not too sure about the other tariffs but it costs £6 for 6-12 hours. The car park is litterally a minutes walk from the sea front. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

The museum houses exhibits from old Victorian seaside amusements to finds from the Somersets history. Play some of the machnes that the Victorians used to, get your fortune told or see what the butler saw. It cost £3.50 each for adults. The Grand Pier is a really nice old pier with plenty to do for all the family. At the entrance there are a couple of amusement arcades where you can play video games, fruit machines or prize bingo, you can also buy typical seaside souvenirs, hotdogs, candyfloss, ice-cream or donuts. When I first started going on the pier you had to pay but now it is free. You can either walk to the end or pay 30 pence to ride the train there, I used to enjoy taking the train but also liked looking at the sea through the gaps in the pier. Once at the end there are yet more arcades and food stalls with a few fairground rides, including bumper cars. Leave a Comment Address: At the centre of the promenade.Directions: You cant really miss it once you are on the seafront, it's that big thing that sticks out to sea.Website: http://www.grandpierwsm.co.uk/

Birnbeck Pier is a lovely old structure which is badly in need of repair, at the moment it is closed to the public and only open to the Lifeboat Crew. In its heyday the pier was always packed with visitors and people wanting to catch the ferry over to wales. I can remember going on it when I was younger and playing in the amusement arcade at the end of it. Even then the buildings were falling into dis-repair but you could still imagine the Victorian Grandeur and what it was like. I can remember a mockup of the nosecone of Concorde being on the end of it but apparently not many other people can. The days I used to go alot of people fished off the rocks, I even had a go but only caught a couple of small crabs. You could buy Birnbeck Pounds at the entrance to spend on the pier at the various shops and sideshows on the pier. Birnbeck Pier is notable for a few things, it is the only land to rock pier in the country, all the others go out to sea. It has the steepest Lifeboat slipway in the country and it was used during the war by Lancaster Bombers for training runs for the Dambuster Raid. At the land end of the pier there is a souvenir stall where you can buy things relating to the pier with the proceeds going to the restoration fund. It really would be a shame to see this magnificant pier remain closed for too much longer. Leave a Comment

One of the floats by helsbels The annual Carnival of Light in November marks the end of the summer season for Weston-Super-Mare. The truth is that the holiday makers and day trippers havent been evident for at least a month (well at least THIS year! -2004) Unlike many carnivals, this one is totally based on lights, each float has thousands of bulbs which light up (and heat up!) the streets. There's music and people dancing on them too and a really nice atmosphere. The streets are lined with people (wrap up warm by the way) and it lasts about 2 hours or so. A nice way to officially close the season. Leave a Comment Directions: It travels all through Weston, the Seafront is a good place to watch from.
