    SLOW DOWN !

by DAO Updated Jun 15, 2015

Officially there are just 2 (yes two) fixed speed cameras in Doncaster. I have counted that many and more on every occasion I have ever visited Doncaster. And then there are the mobile cameras. These are in the back of special vans that sit in blind spots in a road here waiting for you. The link below tells you were they COULD be each week. They do not tell you where a Police car with a small speed camera might be. Doncaster loves its speed cameras, so take it easy. And the mobile cameras do NOT operate near signs warning you of these cameras.

    Slow down now!

    DON'T THROW IT !

by DAO Updated Jun 24, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Is the wrapper of your chocolate bar worth over $100? It will be if you throw it on the ground. Many cities in the UK now have Wardens (read pseudo-Police) that walk around town centres looking for people littering. They then fine you ON THE SPOT. There are rubbish bins and it’s just not worth it.

    Attacks and prostitution

    by justin1987 Written Jan 15, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Doncaster has murderers, rapists, chavs, drugs, etc like any town. Never venture out of town centre at night into rough areas like the Beckett Road area, Hyde Park, Balby, Hexthorpe and Bentley.

Also stay off North Bridge nr the bus station at night. Your just asking to be attacked because there isn't any lighting in the middle.

Doncaster also has a big prostitution problem as well in areas such as Wheatley down Christchurch Road and down Thorne Road where the hotels are. It is best to walk around at night if you are going to a hotel in a group or with someone, or better - in a taxi.

Also be very careful with Doncaster minicabs. If your a woman never board one alone. There have been loads of cases of rape involving minicab drivers.
