The Winter Garden is in the very centre of the city. It is the largest temperate glasshouse in any European city centre. Around 2,500 plants from around the world (of 150 species) are attractively displayed, with information boards explaining the varieties and country of origin.

It is a pleasant place to stroll around or just sit and enjoy the surroundings. Sometimes You can catch live music performances, or see wedding parties, who stop for their photos here. Temporary art exhibitions, where you can purchase paintings and photographs are also held.

The entrance to the Millenium Galleries leads off from the gardens. There are also small shops selling plants, and gifts as well as a cafe and information posts.

Nearby are the Town Hall, Peace Gardens, Lyceum and Crucible Theatres, Library, and Fargate

Open daily (except Christmas Day) 0800 -1800hrs

The large temperate glasshouse creates a little bit of the tropics in the heart of the city centre. Whatever the weather it is a delight to visit. The building is 70 metres long & 22 metres high, it contains more than 2500 plants from all around the world. As well as the plants, there are cafes & galleries to visit,

Admission is free & it's open daily from 08:00 to 18:00.

This is a wonderful place. A gigantic, architect designed greenhouse, right in the city centre.

The plants are wonderful, and clearly the locals enjoy just sitting around to chill out.

A cafe at one end, and it also gives access into a gallery.

    Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely place to sit and have a rest, especially if it's sunny but windy outside. There is a cafe and icecream seller but best of all it is free to enter!
