    Railways

    Ipswich Station

Ipswich is on the mainline to London Liverpool Street Station. Trains are currently operated by National Express although they will be losing the franchise in the next year or two. Journey times are quoted at about 1hour 10 mins between London and Ipswich but from my own experiences, I wouldn't plan any journeys on a train that involved tight deadlines.

    Good train services.

by shizzler Written Feb 2, 2008

Ipswich is on the mainline from London. Go to London Liverpool street station and get the train from there. There will be services to Norwich that stop off at Ipswich on the way through. These services by one railway also stop at Stratford, Chelmsford, Colchester and Manningtree before getting to Ipswich. You can also get services that terminate at Ipswich, but these call at lots of smaller stations on the way and instead of taking 68 mins can take about 85 mins. There's usually a train every half hour or so, excluding sundays when i think it's hourly. Coaches are available too. For information on these go to national express website. The coaches are running less often and take alot longer as they go through many stop offs. Once in Ipswich the bus services to get around are good. You can get anywhere in Ipswich by bus for a reasonable price. Visit Ipswich busses website for details on routes.

    Park and Ride

by ratherton Written Oct 30, 2003
    Fly Into Town

There are currently 2 Park and Ride facilities serving Ipswich. One is on the junction of the A12/A14 (London Road) and the other (Bury Road) is on the first exit to Ipswich when approaching from the west, locally known as the Asda turnoff.

According to their website, a 3rd location is due to be opened in November 2003 in Martlesham which is to the north of the town.

It's quite a good way to get into Ipswich as parking in the centre is becoming more congested although if you plan to buy a large amount of shopping, you'll have to carry it back on the bus with you.

Prices, maps and all other up to date information is available on their website.
